Would a brown swag light help?

Hi, I just finished a bedroom in my home for a young adult. The room is very small and I'm on a budget so I did a lot with paint, sale items, overstock, smartbargans ect. The original plan was a black, gray and white room but decorating without color is not in my dna. I found a four panel mural on ebay (which I split into 2 on ea wall) that looked more black and white in the picture...but it is not. I put the mural up anyway. I need some sort of bedside light that will not sit on the little side table and is in a brownish shade of some sort to better wrap up the room, plus it can't be too large. I have looked on ebay and some other sites but I need "cheap" under $50. Any idea's? I'm hoping to somehow tie in the brown forest with the rest of the room. The room is 10 x 11 and 9' tall.

I would not be as concerned in this case with matching as much as I would be with function - that person may well want a really good reading light, but brown doesn't seem to cut it. You can get those gooseneck thingies in Wal-Mart (some very cute) for $15. if that, but it'll be appreciated rather than cursed at if the person needs to read small print.

Hi larke, there is not enough room on the little table for a lamp. I found this Japanese swag light on Amazon thats only $39, size 8" dia x 12" and takes a standard "A" medium base bulb. However, you bring up a good point in that maybe it won't give off enough light to read by...hmm don't know.

On Lamps Plus they have some things like this, that are just shades, and you can buy a swag kit. The plain shade is $24 so with a swag kit you may meet your budget. They have some others like this one with twigs on it, (trees, a woodgrain print) that are more expensive. The woodgrain print is cool but of course its like $99:(

Ok palimpsest now you've done it I love the $99 bois woodgrain shade lol. However, it's not my room so I'm not spending $99 on a 19yr olds room...but you gave me a good idea I'll buy a plain shade and paint that woodgrain on with my handy dandy faux woodgrain tool. Easy peasy!
