I have an older home with a 7 foot dropped kitchen ceiling. I would like to raise the ceiling 12" out from the walls and existing cabinets and use recessed lighting. The main kitchen area is approx 11' x 11.5' with a small dog leg 6' x 5' off one end. Any suggestions on the appropriate can size and bulb wattage and also spacing? I will also use a fixture in the center of the larger area. I think this small remodel with bring the kitchen up to today's look with minimum expense. I also plan to paint the cabinets and hang new doors. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations.
