Another CL dining room

The last CL DR didn't work out - bad quality.

I just found this one posted on CL. I have a viewing later this evening. The poster said it's 40 years old, heavy and a good quality set for its time. He couldn't remember the maker. He said the table has some scratches on the top and the table and leafs are wood and veneer. This set looks unique to me for its time, but I don't know much about furniture. Thoughts there?

The poster mentioned the sideboard is a beauty with a marble inlay but I don't know if he's selling it along with the DR for $250 or separate (it's not listed on CL separately).

Everyone here offers great advice and comments, so I'm interested in hearing what you think of this one for styling and price. We have a casual style, and this one isn't, but it's quite different in style. Not sure what it will take besides fabric to get new cushions made.

Since he removed the post already, I managed to save the pictures. Here's his CL description:

We're moving! Nice dining table that expands from 5-1/2' to 8-1/2' in 1' increments with 3 leaves. (pictured with one leaf, other leaves are included). Six chairs as well.

Asking $250 or best offer.

I don't know anything about the dining set, but I LOVE the style of those chairs! Gorgeous.

It is sure different than the cherry set you were looking at before. Do YOU like it? It is easy to change out the fabric. I am not crazy about the finial things on the top of the chairs, but perhaps I just can't see the possiblities.

Very interesting. Kind of Deco/MCM/Neoclassic. I love the frames of the chairs and the legs to the table. I say get it. 250 is a bargain. I wish it was in my area. I'd grab it in a minute.

I ended up passing on this set after seeing it in person with my DH. With our small DR, we didn't like that the two end chairs didn't fit all the way under the table - they stuck out a good amount. The table top was pretty worn, though it could have been refinished, I suppose. Knowing us, it would never get done. The seats were pretty narrow. I'm of average size, and my butt took up the whole bottom. These would be uncomfortable for a larger person with the wood on the sides, and we do have a few family/friends that fit into that category.

It is a beautiful set, but wasn't speaking to me when I visited it in person - unfortunately. It really is quite unique.

Very 1960's - kind of mediterranean/modern. I see that you passed on it. I think it was a good decision.
