Timberframe lighting

We are currently building a Timberframe house in SW Washington and need to do some up lighting to highlight the TF. The vault is 23 ft and we were wondering if Xenon strips would work. We would run them centered on top of the TF cross ties to throw light upwards at the wood ceilings. Is this the best approach and are they dimmable for "mood lighting"? We will have cans in the ceiling on dimmers also, we are certainly open to all suggestion. I can build this thing but lighting is not in my area of knowledge.

Why not use T8 or T5 fluorescents with high-CRI, 3000K lamps? If you want to dim them, make sure you get dimmable ballasts.

The xenon lamps are dimmable and can add a great glow to the wood. If you want a continuous light, this would be a great way to go. I am not sure how wide the beams are, but some people have put track lighting up there with lamps that throw the light in various directions and you can elect to use either flood or spot lighting. Although not energy efficient as using the fluorescents, I believe that you may be going for a more designer look and either of these would work.
