For those with hood liners...

For those of you who have a hood liner and a custom built cabinet to hide the liner, I'm curios how far beyond your regular upper cabinets does the hood liner cabinet stick out?

For example, my uppers are 13" deep and the hood liner (vent-a-hood) is 19" deep, so it will stick out 6" past the uppers. I thought this would be fine, but my cabinet maker said he isn't used to seeing them stick out quite that far. Because I have a 36" cooktop, the liners are all a little deeper than if I had a 30" cooktop. Do you think it will look weird to have my hood cabinet pop out 6" past my uppers? My cabinet guy said he could try to panel the 6" sides so they look finished and match the rest of the cabinets.

Thanks for your help.
