I'd look at LED flush mount or semi flush mount fixtures. If you just want it fairly simple and clean with lots of light, I'd look at Lithonia LED fixtures at Home Depot (or wherever). I bought the little round 7 inch LED from Lithonia for our closets, and it puts out loads of nice light. I noticed they offer larger models with HUGE lumen output. They're pretty cheap and simple looking, but I don't think you'd want something sparkly or formal for a boy's room anyway.
