You bought a great sink -- Blanco is a reputable name and the last thing you want is a dud for a sink! (well come to think of it, you don't really want a dud anywhere)

Sure, it's a bit more than you could find at a big box store, but so what? It's also a lot less than having one custom-made (>$3K).

Our sink is evidently not average, but I really like it in its box ... ha ha. We'll see when it's installed! It's exactly what we wanted, both my husband and me, and considering we were coming from different perspectives I think that's a great thing!

I just (last night) paid $264.99 for mine...$239.99 + $25 S&H...no tax!

I paid even more than that for my mondo sink, but m only question was whether I should have gotten this one or the similar Blanco, so I'm not going to tell you it's too much. You might shop around a bit to see what kind of prices are available, but Blanco is a great sink. My prep sink is a Blanco and I've been very happy with it.

I saw the results of another kitchen remodel. While there were a few things I would have done differently, the thing I disliked the most was the shallow double bowl sink. And it might be the hardest thing to ever change under that granite and the deep backsplash. I was telling DH that I hoped it wasn't installed on top of the cabinet box like ours is, becaue if they decide they don't like it (he commented that the faucet was splashing out), they may have to live with it for a long time.

I thnk it's worth a couple hundred dollars to get something you love and will enjoy working with.

I bypassed the regular stores, shopped around local low-glam places, and found the nonstandard-size 30"-long 10"-deep stainless 18-gauge single-bowel sink I really wanted for $99. At that I felt a little guilty because the standard-size 25"/10" one I was actually looking for was also there for $40. The markups in this market are outrageous.

I have been using my $540 Franke Orca single bowl stainless sink for the past 6 months. It was worth every penny! I don't think $600 for a sink is a lot when you consider how often it is used.

I also spent several hundred more dollars on accessories for the sink... I'm glad I have them, especially the bottom rack and side grids.

Ashlander - is that a K4 faucet on your sink?

How do you like it? I like the looks, and that it isn't as high as some, but its pullout (vs pull down) configuration seems awkward to me. How do you grab it and use it?

I purchased the same sink as Buehl from GTS but paid a little more due to the shipping to Canada. Still was cheaper than I could find around home and got what I wanted ($308). I watched ebay ALOT!! Unfortunately the other one I wanted wouldn't ship outside the US and GTS didn't have them on ebay (out of stock). There were very good deals on ebay though! I like the fact GTS has many accessories included for the price advertised, and there service was awesome.
My friend bought her Siligrant (1 large bowl)sink from HD & paid $450, she loves it.

OMG, what was I, crazy? I bought a Franke Pro for $1K - sheesh!

I'm not sure what model of Blanco you are looking at but I ordered my Franke undermount fireclay from needplumbingsupplies.com and saved quite a bit of money. They shipped for free and I had it in a few days. I know they also sell Blanco. Good Luck.

I got both my sink and my faucet from the granite supplier for $400. My GC recommended them and said they wouldn't be selling junk. Don't know the brand or the breakdown in prices but they are both really nice looking.

Can't remember the exact price, but my Kohler Deerfield undermount, smart-divide was between $650-$750, I think. We were very much on a budget and I probably should have gotten something cheaper, but (using my husband's excuse for buying tools...) if you use something everyday, you should get the best you can afford. I had no idea a sink would cost so much. But, I was in love with the color (Black-n-Tan) for years, so I paid extra for the color and I LOVE the smart divide. It's been wonderful.

Swanstone super-single, 33x22. In 2003 it was $320. Worth every penny. Easier to take care of than even the great Kohler Exec Chef we used to have, and quieter to boot. Wanted to undermount it, but the rep didn't recommend it so it's a drop-in. EVERYTHING fits into this sink, including our super-sized wok and giant-sized 3-level Chinese steamer.

The blanco I picked was $$ too as blanco's are costly. I got lucky as I ordered it online and it never came. I had to switch granite suppliers and our granite people had it for $250, at least $150 cheaper than online, so I was happy.

I really liked the BlancoPrecision zero radius stainless sinks, but was hoping to spend a bit less. I found a 16 gauge (as opposed to Blanco's 18) twin for the Blanco sink that I wanted on eBay for $229 (plus $27 for shipping). The Blanco version sells for around $450 to $500. I haven't installed the sink yet, but it looks great in the box. The quality appears to be very good.

Here is mine. Also ordered from GTS. I paid 209.00 plus shipping( about 15.00). I got the sink the very next day after I ordered it. We love it!! It also came with the free sink grid.

try a farm style sink if you want the big price sinks... I think ours cost over $800 and its a smaller unit

I found a beautiful 16 gauge ss Artisan double sink on Overstock.com for under $400 -- it retails for $800.

Blanco Blancowave 1 1/2 (main sink) 10" $580

Blanco Silgranit super single (laundry/dog washing sink) $414

All are top-mount on tile counters. All were installed about 1 month ago and, so far, I love them!

Much to the dismay of our plumber, we are going to purchase a 1-1/2 drop in Blanco Silgranit sink. Model #511-642. It's $273.89 + shipping, which I believe is about $27. Our plumber thinks we should get cast iron - but that isn't what I want. I have read up on this web site about all the glories of the Silgranit - haven't heard one bad comment about them from people who actually have them in their kitchens. There's a link below to the company that we were going to buy ours from - however, since we're doing a bunch of biz with Home Depot, we'll just get it from them. I will bring the printout from the less expensive price I found on the internet - and Home Depot will match the price. (Saving me about $200!)

My 16 gauge Elkay stainless steel 28" undermount sink was $400. The least I had seen it for locally was over $600. Gulp.

I got a great square commercial style 16 guage stainless sink (10" deep) for $329 on Ebay.

Haven't purchased mine yet. I'm stressing because I want a "good" sink and the one my granite installer is offering for free is an 18 gauge SS. I heard that 15 gauge is better. I like the configuration okay but I'm wondering if it is going to pit or be noisy because of the cheaper gauge? I quit shopping when I had to go in and get unexpected oral surgery that is going to come in around $4800.00 (not covered!) Maybe I should just get back on the horse and do some more looking???? Or settle for the freebie?

Got my Shaw's original apron front sink by Rohl from the "cheap" online place and ONLY paid $840! It still hurts, but I was in love...... what can I say? :-)

I paid $633 for a Franke Orca. Frankes are also expensive. But its a great sink.

I only paid $240 (or thereabouts) total for my Blanco Diamond Silgranit Double Equal.

I have I large sink in the skullery, Shaw Original fireclay, 36 inch- $850.00. I have a smaller Shaw Firclay 24 inch -$600.00 in other part of kitchen. On the high side, but I love them.

We bought a kohler dickenson cast iron apron front sink, that is outrageously expensive, but I loved it, at the design store it was 2200. and my local
plumber got it for around 1500. It was the first sink I saw and never saw another sink that came close. The white was cheaper but we got it in like a crackle cream color. It goes great with the quartz countertop and just looks gorgeous.

Well I got a Kohler apron front sink also that is white and it was $1100-and worth every single penny! If you love your sink it's worth the price!

We purchased the same Galaxy sink as Buehl and it's great. It's 16-gauge, while many are a thinner 18 gauge. I love it.

We followed the many recommendations on this forum and sure are happy we did. It's great sink and a great price. What would we do without forums?!

I paid $1500 for my soapstone farm sink. My GC thought I was outrageous but I've enjoyed that sink from the moment it arrived at the cabinetmaker's. I enjoy it even more now that I've been using it many times every day for several months.

It's a pleasure to work there and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I skipped a lot of bells and whistles like an instant hot water tap, a pot filler, self-closing cab hardware and a warming drawer to have it and, for me, it was absolutely the right decision. Truth is I may have saved $1500 and gotten something that's a practical and aesthetic joy I appreciate in the bargain.

We were very cost concious and went with an 18ga undermount from SiennaSinks the "Sienna Marsi - SS308", $199. The hardware they provided for the clips was useless in soapstone but the clips themselves worked. I just had to get lead anchors and different screws. The drains were $15 and we're very happy with them. The sink has great slope on the bottom towards the drain, so debris flows fast. Sound deadening seems pretty good, the rubber pad affixed to the bottom works well.
So in short, we like it. Don't know how it'll do long term tho.

and $400 for this antique Alberene soapstone double bay sink, both fully restored. I wouldn't change a thing I've used them for a year and a half and love them both.

What does it mean to have a "good" sink? Seriously, can you tell the difference between one that is $250 and one that is $700? I'm not totally convinced...I could understand mucho bucks for soapstone farm sink, but not the others...

I'm up there with the Franke sink folks...I think it was right around $1,100 (Franke Pro). It's been so long since I bought it I don't remember specifics. It looks really lovely on the living room floor...

My prep sink is an Elkay, around $400 I believe. Included in both of those is shipping, which is quite high to Alaska.

My "bargain" sinks were an onyx sink for $170 (ebay) that is available through my countertop folks at $1000 and my two hand hammered mexican copper sinks ($250 each) which retail at $1200 each at the local store. I guess that left me room for the franke :oP

I have wanted a soapstone sink for about 40 of my 60 years because my great grandmother and my great aunt in Maine had one that was much like your top one (but about twice as long; I swear that thing had to be 45"!) when I was a little girl. I have many happy memories of that kitchen and I was especially fascinated with the color and the slippery texture when it was wet.

The folks at Nor'east Architectural Salvage have just what you are talking about (look at their web site) ....life is so strange maybe they had "the one" you remember. I sure am glad that you have yours now. There simply is nothing to replace memories...it is after all what we are, and what we make for our children.
