Woo-hoo, I posted a picture, my first! Finally we appear ready to expand and remodel our kitchen, after a couple of deferments. We have a small(9x18) kitchen currently, with a small area for a table and chairs included and 4, count 'em 4, doorways. It was built in 1959 and shows it! By pushing out the front 5 feet or so I should be able to have the cooktop adjacent to the sink. We've had an architect draw the plan, but I want to run it by you smart people as well. Actually, the architect wanted the fridge on the window (sink) wall and the table in the middle of the room attached to a small island, but that feels off to me, especially the fridge which I'm afraid might block light from the windows. It's not as important to me to include the fridge in the work triangle. Any glaring problems? Any small problems? I'm not sure whether materials matter at this time but I can't really have any open shelves as we do lots of Indian cooking which is very messy--sauteeing on high heat. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Shoot! I was so proud of myself getting the picture in that I forgot to change the title. I hope someone will comment!

Hi, i am not anywhere near the layout help that others are. I would really like to see that frig in your work triangle!!!!! Can it go on the wall with the cooktop?

I have a small kitchen, 7.5'x12' and with 4!!! doors too. My frig is out on the porch. where my pantry is located. There is no such thing as a work triangle in my kitchen. One person works well in my kitchen but more than that and it gets irritating. We have to assign locations for people so we can stay out of the way, its like a bucket brigade.

Looking at the layout I almost want to suggest a U shape kitchen with a farm table that could also be used for projects, prep space, eating in the middle... no separate island. It would open up a whole slew of possibilities.

Thank you both for getting past "Test." This plan has been in my head for years and frankly, the four doorways are just a bugger to work around. We considered moving the one by the table around the corner to the family room but decided against that for various reasons. I've gone back and forth about having a table in the kitchen as I'd gain quite a bit more counter space (reason for an island,) but I've always had one wherever I've lived and can't quite seem to give it up. I do wonder how it would be to have one in the middle and will probably ask this question in a different post.

Wow, your fridge out on the porch?? You've got me beat for a small kitchen!

bump to 1st page because of misleading title. Hope you get more feedback!

Yeah, I sure wish I could retype the title! Thank you for bumping, enduring. Maybe I'll just repost with a new title and hope I can get the picture in again.

Yes do that, I think that would be fine.
