We have a galley type of kitchen. In the center of the galley there is a recessed area 4' x 2' that had a florescent bulb type of light with the ugly egg crate plastic cover. I've taken the cover off and the light down. That was the easy part! Any idea's as to what type of light (s) I should install there? Unfortunately and unknown to me the ceiling area in the 4'x 2' on one end has some damage. (Air conditioner issues several years ago and it appears as though contractor foot cracked the ceiling. Of course I didn't know because the egg crate covered it up)

Of course rope lighting somehow would work. Or a semi-mount of some type. But what would I do for the ceiling area? It has to be repaired, but I'm just trying to think of something else to put up there. (I.E. ceiling tiles, some type of flooring, etc.)

I'm open to any and all idea's.
