Lighting over sink

The area over sink has a very large window (5' wide) and I have a few ideas of what I'd like. I like pendants but with only 1 I think it would look funny........so I played with my kitchen photo and "mocked up" a couple others.

These lights are actually island lights so I'm not sure if I'm making a "faux pas" but I kinda like the look of them.

My favorite is the double light. Here are the pics

Opinions?

We're putting two individual pendants in our almost 7' bay window (w/recessed lighting above it as well)...one on either side of the sink and set slightly back so they (1) aren't in the way of someone working at the sink or DW and (2) don't block the view for that same person.

The pendants you're considering are all connected to each other in some way and I'm afraid they may be in the way of someone at the sink or block their view out the window (I can't tell what your view is out the window so I don't know how important it is to have an unobstructed view).

Sorry, I don't like either. I would consider a can light and some under cabinet lights also. They add so muc indirect lighting and mood.

Again I'm stuck with not putting a recessed light because of where my ceiling joist (2x4?) is placed. So I can only put something either hanging or flush mount. I really don't want a flush mount but some type of pendant is what I'm hoping for.............I just don't know which one : (
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for your feedback so far.

I like the top double one the best. What other lights do you have in the kitchen? There are also neat track light types that swirl shaped track. (I'm looking for one for my LR), and then could give you the option of re-positioning lights.

My plan is to use pendant lights over my sink also. If I keep the sink below the kitchen window, my set-up will be much like yours except my window is probably going to be narrower. I don't see why pendants won't work there as long as you shorten them to hang at a height that suits you. Another thing I have to consider, and it looks as though you will too, is to place them in just the right spot so that they don't crowd the wall or window yet won't be too far out over the sink. We've installed some sort of box that will allow three pendants to be hung from it and I'm seriously considering three small pendants. One lights seems lonely to me and I'm not sure about two. I'll just have to play with them when I finally get to that point. I really like your light over the sink in the second photo. I'm not sure if you have room for one of the lights with the larger, circular ceiling medallion. Would a light like that project out too far over the sink? I haven't looked at those so I don't have any information about that. Oh, how I despise the words, "We can't, honey. There's a ceiling joist there!"

I think the first light would look great. It's like you have two pendants that are connected and since you have a 5 foot window it can handle it.

I have a 5 foot window so I used three pendants. They are 38" above the counters and give so much light.

Photoshopping is good but I would still have someone hold the real fixture up for you so you can see it.

    Good luck!
