We've been getting a lot of requests regarding prepping for wall-mounted TVs in the modular homes we build. They generally involve providing an electrical recepticle and a TV jack at 60" above the floor. We are never asked to provide any additional blocking in the wall so I would surmise that weight is not an issue.

I have been told that before you install mounting brackeds or drill a single hole, you should tack a piece of cardboard the size of your intended TV to the wall and stare vacantly at it for a period of time. Questions of the relative entertainment value aside, it will tell you if it is at a comfortable height.
