Appliance adjustments

Contractor's pretty much finished and wants final payment. I certainly want to send him on his way and not have to deal with him anymore. There are a couple of details regarding the appliance installation that he seems incapable of resolving, so I'm wondering what options I have for having someone else complete the work.

Specifically:

(1) He didn't attach the black plastic toekick to the bottom of the Miele 18" dishwasher. I think he just can't figure out how to attach it - there are some metal brackets that need to go on, and I don't see how they attach either.

(2) The Frigidaire top freezer refrigerator rolls forward when I open the door. I called Frigidaire and they said that once it's leveled, it should stop rolling. Well, he apparently tried since there are fingerprints all over the fridge now and it's tilted back much more than it was before - it's tilted way too much now, actually - but it still rolls.

I so regret now not having the dealer (PC Richard) install my appliances, but installation was included in my contract with the contractor, and I really thought he'd know how to do it. Everything seems to *work* okay - it's just these little details. Is there someone else I can call to finish up this nonsense? Should I call the dealer? Would a rolling refrigerator be considered a warranty issue? If I call an appliance place, would they charge me a fortune to come over?

I'm willing to pay a little more money to get this stuff finished by someone else - I can't force the contractor to do what he apparently doesn't know how to do...

Advice appreciated!!! TIA!

Maybe this will help. (Scroll to pg 32 of the manual.)

(Have you loaded the refrigerator yet? Maybe it won't roll so easily if has some weight in it...)

Here is a link that might be useful: Miele Dishwasher Installation Instructions

Our fridge didn't roll but it was crooked - there were a few crank things near the rollers my husband played with and it adjusted nicely. Try the manual - we didn't at first and for a long time and it was very helpful when I decided to find it .

Thanks, ci_lantro, but this is just the section that I can't figure out. On page 31, it talks about how to insert the mounting brackets, but I don't see how to insert them.

Interesting idea about the fridge maybe not rolling if it's loaded... that didn't occur to me! Well, now it's tilted back so far that I don't really want to load it. Anything round I put in it will roll to the back! It needs to be adjusted forward again...

Also just noticed that the wood molding around the door is coming loose on the bottom, so I actually have to have them come back again to fix that. Just when I thought I was done...

Sorry for all the complaining. It's been a rough road.

Cheapo ratchet and a level and I did my Mom's (and some time to figure out how the ratchet worked - a genius I'm not). Her Maytag says the fridge should lean back a bit (like yours initially, I could have ski'd down it, it had such a slope). My Mom's has anti-tip feet you put down after you level it. Deciphering those manuals is no easy task, good luck.

Pretty subtle but it leans back a smidge (still haven't put down the anti-tip feet):

Nice job! I just fooled around under mine - just needed a flathead screwdriver which I actually own. (I know everything about how to take apart and put back together computers, but anything else involving handiwork is beyond me!)

Got it to tilt a little less. I may play with it some more tomorrow. The manual doesn't mention anything about anti-tip feet or supports or anything. I'm wondering if I can use something like a rubber wedge to prevent it from rolling - maybe HD has something???

Still have to figure out what to do about the kickplate for the dishwasher. You actually can't *see* that it's open there - my kitchen is so small, you can't see under anything! But I *know* my cats will delight in rolling small objects under it if I don't plug it up with something.
