A Tip -- Keep a map :)

Divamum was talking about labelling the shelves to find things. Others were talking about everything having a place in their new kitchens but not remembering where they work.

Well, today I was making muffins in my folks' kitchen. The one I grew up in. Where I've known where everything was since I was six. I made up the muffin batter and LO! No muffin tins! So I asked. My father said on the right side of the top pot pullout. Duh. Like I didn't look there already. My mother said they were with the once a year molds and cake pans in the storage area of the studio. Or maybe in the cupboard above the toaster collection. Nix. I found the barbeque plates that are no longer in the service porch in a cabinet I would never have expected but no muffin tins.

My mother was very upset. I wasn't too worried because it was six-week muffins, so the batter is meant to sit in the fridge, and I figured I'd bring over my own muffin tin tomorrow. But she kept fretting and I kept thinking. The cornpone pans were gone too... Not above the laundry cupboards? Okay. Thinking "up" I wondered if they were in the high cupboard in the sewing room where the turkey roaster lives. Ahah! Muffin tins galore! Muffins for dinner. No cornpone pans though...

Moral of the story: If you have a small kitchen and don't have storage space in it for things you don't use very often, KEEP A MAP!!!!
