I have a iron railing in my 40 year old house. Outside from needing a good painting, it is in great shape. I would like to update it by adding a wood handrail to the top. The problem is that the railing does not have a flat top to it, rather a curved, decorative top that is saddered to a flat top. Is there a way to remove this top? or is this even the best way to go. How would you advise going forward with this project. Any advice or tips you could give would be great.
