OK - Almost there. What do you think?

I have narrowed down my appliance choices to the following:

Microwave: OTR GE Advantium 120

Dishwasher: Miele (lowest model with China cycle)

Refrigerator: Electrolux SS CD FD without ice & water in door

Range: PLEASE HELP. Would like to make final decision so I can place orders. Have narrowed it down to the following 4 SS slide ins:

-- Electrolux Electric (like the overall look & will match refrigerator but not unsure about metal trim on cooktop)

-- Electrolux Induction (Induction a big plus & will match refrigerator but concerned about metal trim on cooktop)

-- Kenmore Induction (like that it doesn't seem to have metal trim on cooktop that Electrolux has)

-- GE Profile (I like that it has porcelain racks & a full glass top without metal trim)

I would certainly put quality and function over look in making a decision.

you seem to like NOT having the metal rim. so i'd go with one of those 2. have you gone out to see them in real? if not, go - it'll probably decide for you.

Unless they are right next to each other, I would be more concerned about quality, reliability, budget and features versus trim colors. MHO OC

    You are almost there!

I guess I wasn't clear enough. I was more concerned about the trim and controls on the cooktop functionally getting in the way or collecting crumbs. Do you have recommendations based upon quality, reliability and features? For me, the Pros and Cons unrelated to trim are:

Electrolux Electric - Pros: 2 full ovens & 5 full burners, pull out shelves, use exising pots & pans, lower cost. Cons: not induction, cooktop trim cleaning an issue? Does it get in the way?, racks are not self cleaning
-- Electrolux Induction Pros: INDUCTION, 2 full ovens, pull out shelves, Cons: purchase of new pots and pans, higher cost, same issue with cooktop trim and cleaning of oven shelves
-- Kenmore Induction - Pros: same as Electrolux induction, glass cooktop, Unsure Of: made by Electrolux but are they the same thing?, Cons: higher cost, purchase of new pots & pans
-- GE Profile - Pros: self cleaning racks, 5th warming burner, full glass top, price, no new pots and pans, Cons: not induction, no warming drawer or second oven.

    In summary, 2 important questions:

    1. Do benefits of induction and second oven justify higher cost of appliance and repurchase of cookware I wouldn't need otherwise?

    2. Is there a big difference in quality/service between Electrolux, Kenmore, GE Profile?

Electrolux makes Kenmore induction cooktops, so probably ranges, too?

I would give a big YES to the induction. You can buy a few essential pieces of cookware that will handle the bulk of what you do, and add as you see fit.

Have you seen a demonstration of induction? INCREDIBLE. So fast and no hot burners, so safe and no food burnt on the stove top. I had a GE Profile electric range with ceramic top for about 8 yrs in our previous home. I didn't have convection because the ones available at the time had fans that made the oven much smaller, front to back. I was quite happy with it all and all, so feel it's a decent affordable range...But it wasn't induction, which I believe to be WAY ahead of regular electric, and one oven isn't as good as two if you need them.

I am a budget-minded person, but think if you're going to splurge at all, having dbl ovens and, especially, induction is the place to do it.

We are also picking appliances now and made some similar choices. We will get the GE OTR advantium 120 MW, the Samsung counter depth french door fridge, and I have ordered the Electrolux induction range. We have settled on a Kitchenaid DW, one of the ones with the 3rd cutlery rack, but not sure which one.

I LOVE the look of the Electrolux slide-in ranges, and I really want induction. Our pans are over 20 years old, so they are pretty much due for replacement anyway. I agree with the trim on the Electrolux, though. I haven't heard this for sure, but it certainly looks like crumbs will collect and get stuck there. I figure that it will be SO much easier to clean the induction top that I am willing to fight with the crumbs (of course I am replacing an old coil electric stove!).

I think any of those slide-in choices are fine. I also considered the Kenmore and GE induction ranges, and while I would have been happy with any of them, I was really excited when the Electrolux induction was announced. I'm hoping that it doesn't have lots of bugs (being so new), but it probably will...

It might just be me, but I think the Kenmore's have this weird greenish translucent looking film on the glass door front. It would really bug me as our range is very visible in our kitchen. I know the Kenmore's are made by Electrolux, but this seems to be only on the Kenmore doors. You might see what I mean if you can see the Kenmore next to another brand at a store, especially from a bit of a distance (say 10 feet).

But any of them are great choices that I'm sure you will be thrilled with. Good luck!

I have the electrolux all gas slide in range. I have no issues with the front part as far as mess goes. It's really easy to wipe. If it was up to me, I would have gone for the induction though. but it wasn't available a few months ago when we got ours. We also have the electrolux fridge, but not the FD. We got the CD SxS. I love everything about it except that the fridge bins are really hard to separate from the glass tops for cleaning. major design flaw!

sorry - I figured you had checked them out and were just deciding between those - but that all were ok in price, quality etc.

then it depends on your needs and wants and budget. if you see that you might have a need for the 2nd oven, now is the time to put it in if you can afford it!

gas vs induction will come down to your preference and budget.
