I just bought an asko floor model, so I am hoping it is good.

It's very quiet and that's the best thing I can say about it. Mine needed a major repair (should have bought a new dishwasher) at about 8 years. It's still working 2 years later and wasn't doing a good job cleaning the dishes until I found out it was the removal of phosphate from dishwasher detergent that was causing the problem. Now I add TSP to the dishwasher detergent and the dishes are clean. The cycles are very long, almost 2 hours. The wheels on the racks have broken a couple of times and I think I've replaced the racks once. The stainless steel interior is nice. I think if you pay top dollar for a machine, it should do a top dollar cleaning job. I'm going to buy something else when I redo my kitchen.

My response won't help you but I did have an ASKO bought for our kitchen reno and even though consumer reports seemed to like them anecdotally no one else did. So I backed out at the last minute and went with a Bosch.

Not horrible at all. High quality units.

The drawbacks some find are the rack configurations, smaller distribution than its miele and bosch competition, and their paneled models are a bit harder to install properly.

With the exception of the racking , things the end user really doesn't care about.

I am going with the new one that claims to be the worlds only four rack DW. I had also read conflicting reviews - we'll see.

The owner of the store where I am buying my appliances has had an Asko for ten years--she sells them all, so I'm hoping for the best.

LOVE our asko! very very quiet. Cleans beautifully (use electrasol tabs).

It had to be repaired once in 8 years. We run it once a day. When we have parties, it runs 2-5 times on that day.

    Everything comes out sparkling cleans!

Thanks for the cleaning tips, as that seemed to be the biggest complaint I've seen!

We've had ours for about 5 years and love it. Good friends got theirs about 2 years after us and also have had no problems. When we researched, we found mostly great reviews.

I've had both, put in at about the same time, and prefer the Asko for our needs. The Asko has performed much better for me over the years than the Bosch in terms of cleaning and loading (for my thick Pfaltgraff dishes and wine glasses).

The Bosch control panel started going wacky after ~3 years, so that when you wanted to start a cycle it would show anywhere from 1 to 99 minutes for the cycle duration, no matter what cycle you actually picked. It was used 3-4 times a week as we both worked and were takeoutaholics. It could wash one rack only but the other (don't remember now which), which turned out to be not as helpful as I thought.

The Asko has been used at least daily for the last 3 years since we moved and live twenty miles from a restaurant (cold turkey no takeout). The Quick Wash cycle I haven't had much luck with getting things dry; I believe the SS tub isn't getting hot enough to properly dry. I usually have a very full dirty load every day now so use the regular wash or the heavy wash if I have a cassarole dish or something like that. The plastics do get dry except for the crevices like lid rims that catch and hold the water. I shake them out over the sink and they're dry very quickly (but we're in a dry climate). I also really like on the Asko that I can wash either the top or bottom rack, which works great if I have an extra load of glasses vs pots and pans. The cycles do take a while. The Asko is quieter than the Bosch, both of which were top of the line. I have to have the end of cycle tone on to hear when the Asko is done.

    anyway, long story but HTH.

Glad to hear all this. Clean is important, but living in a nyc apartment where my kitchen is practically in my living room, having a quiet dishwasher is paramount.

We're not all that thrilled with ours. The kitchenaid we had in our previous house 12 years ago did a better job cleaning. The Asko gets the job done, but we have to scrape well and sometimes pre-rinse or it won't get all the debris off.

I don't find ours to be all that quiet either, but that may vary by model. It's about 6 years old now; last year it needed some kind of repair - I think the pump that removes water stopped working. Overall I'm fairly meh on it, but DW hates it and for sure will never buy another Asko.

We have had ours about 6 months. We have the third rack version so it holds a lot. The salesman at highend appliance store has one at home and said he preferred over Bosch for loading capabilities.

I think it cleans great--we don't pre-rinse at all. It's quiet--I have to put my hand on it to feel the vibrations to see if it's running. Plastic will have some water in the crevices, but drier than our old kitchenaid that had a heater. And with no heater, you can put plastic on the bottom rack.
