Countertop AGAIN! help!

I have my countertops all figured out for everywhere except our master bathroom. Up until now I had chosen a darker countertop, but I'm leary that it's too much dark stuff in the bathroom!

Here's my bathroom floor and shower tile, with my sample door (alder stained wild cherry), and 2 laminate samples. The lighter one is Crystalline Dune, the darker one is River Gemstone.

If I go with the dark one, then the glass tile that I have in the shower for accent, will go good for a backsplash. I haven't checked it against the lighter counter though. Yikes!

If I go with the dark one, then would I go with a black sink?

Sorry...I'm VERY lacking in any design ability!

I prefer the dark countertop (I generally prefer a stong contrast with medium tone woods, going either very dark or very light). If you have stainless appliances, a stainless sink would work fine, or you could go with black to blend in with the counter.

What is the wall color selection?

I like the darker counter better with your finishes. I don't like the idea of a black sink, though. I think it will be very hard to keep clean.

This is actually for the master bath, not the kitchen...I forgot I was in the kitchen forum!

    Wall color....not chosen yet.

I like the darker one, but you should mock up how well you can see spills of makeup water etc on it. I hate leaning up against the bathroom vanity and getting something on me because I didn't see it. I would stick with a white sink.

I definitely like the darker countertop better. It will contrast nicely with the alder wood vanity.

not trying to hijack...but what is your floor tile? I like it!

Well...I didn't get back here to check all the replies before I had to call her to finalize the countertops, but you all will be happy to hear I went with the dark one!!

jw34, the color is called Azas Brown (pretty sure), but not sure of the brand...I'll look and let you know.

It looks kind of plain, not alot of movement...but my countertops have movement, and I didn't want them to compete with eachother. BUT...the glass/slate tiles that I'm using for a border in the shower and backsplash on the sink is AMAZING, and really dresses it all up! I actually based my entire bathroom around those glass/slate tiles! I just wish I could have afforded slate for the floor and the shower, but oh well. Thinking back now...a big part of the expense of the tile is actually in the installation and install supplies (grout, etc)...and I think the total difference was just around $1000...but by cutting back on the cost of the bathroom tile, I was able to afford to have duraceramic on my whole main floor (except the bedrooms). Sacrifices I guess. I've NEVER had any tile...carpet, vinyl, and laminate is what all my homes have ever had...the new house will be all tile (ceramic and duraceramic) except the bedrooms and one bathroom (kids br)...so I'm pretty darn excited!

jw34: it's Kate-Lo Samara, and the color is Azas Brown. I'm using the 13X13 tiles.

Here's the BEST part though...this pic shows the glass/slate tiles I will be using for a border around the shower, and also eventually for a backsplash on the vanity...I'm FREAKING in LOVE with these 1x1 tiles!

The rocks in the upper left corner will be the shower floor.
