Kitchen remodel, suggestions?

Hi there:
I'm about to undertake a kitchen remodel and wanted to get some opinions on layout.

Scenario:
-I'm knocking down a wall to open up the space and proposing to put in a 6' island with seating on one side.
-The remaining space is 154" x 99" "L" configuration.

My questions:
-would a 36" range/cooktop "oversized" for this kitchen? I've been going w/ a 30" range/cooktop and 36" hood but debating whether to 'bite the bullet' and go 36". Reason: i want more burners for flexibility. But realistically I know I'd rarely use all of them.
-In the "upper right" is a window that is slightly below counter height (therefore no cabinets). What should I do in this space? There's a dining room to the upper left already and I'm planning seating on the island.
-Should the island be larger or is 6' sufficient?
-33" for 36" cabinet for sink?

I'd welcome any other opinions or thoughts regarding layout :) as you can tell I'm really new at this. Thanks!

From reading other threads here, is it possible to go with a wider fridge? It seems like a lot of people in the appliance forum wish they went for a wider one.

Just my opinion but I'd try for the largest island possible due to it not looking like there's a whole lot of cabinet space. You have the corner area and space to the left of the range that I'm assuming are upper/lower, upper cabinets above the dishwasher and a bunch of lowers in the island. Is there a pantry somewhere that's not in the picture?

No pantryâ¦that's been the struggle. At first I proposed a full floor to ceiling cabinets against theYes upper/lower cabinets above dishwasher and lowers on the island.

On a related note, how much space is recommended to leave on the island? I'm using 48" which seems generousâ¦closing it a bit of course means I can increase island size.

48" for the aisle is ideal. We have had 42" (which was fine) and now have 48" and it's much better.

Also (I thought I commented on this yesterday), I'd suggest moving the microwave drawer to the end of the island closer to the refrigerator.

Lastly, 3'3" is plenty wide for a 1-level island. From your picture, I think it's possible you may be planning a 2-level island? I'm not a fan, but many people like them (I had them and couldn't wait to get rid of them)
