My CL chairs

Look at what I found on CL for a song. Was on vacation in FL and looking for a leather loveseat on CL. I found 2 of these chairs for $40 - for the pair! They are marked Hickory Chair Co. and are red leather and mahogany with nailhead trim all around. Leather has a few scratches but nothing major. Thought I'd bring them back to IL to use in my dining room but alas! they don't fit under the table so now I am toying with the idea of selling them. Anyone have a clue as to their value? Thanks.

Wow, you have your self quite a bargain it looks like. I'd give you $40 for one and it would look fabulous in my new office. LOL

I can't see the sides in the pic, but I have put a link to the Hickory Chair site below. It looks as if it may be one of their 'tub chairs', perhaps 0955-00.

I recently bought one of their 'Weston' Chairs from CL here in Maine. I called a store that sells the brand, and they told me that mine in their least expensive fabrics starts at $1929 and goes up to $3229 in the higher end fabrics. I paid $125 for it.

When you ask what they're worth, I assume you mean what do people think a good price for them would be on Craigslist? Someone who knows the brand may pay a higher price, but most people will look at prices on similar chairs and expect to pay that. Mine was in showroom condition, with no spots, stains, or any issues at all. Are you able to post pictures that show the sides and the scratches that you mention?

Personally knowing the quality, if you have another place you can use them in your home, that's what I'd be doing! The one I bought is shown below in a picture from the CL ad.

Here is a link that might be useful: Hickory Chair Co.

    I'll buy them both for $100 :)

(Am I reading this right? Did you really check CL on vacation?)

Those are great chairs....Hickory Chair Co is a great manufacturer - I would hold on to them - you got them both for $40!!!!!!!! You never know what is going to happen in the future......

This is just me..........If I couldn't use them, I'd much rather them go to someone I know that could use them rather than sale them for pennies on the dollar on CL!!! Nieces/nephews getting 1st apartment, etc - help someone out that is just getting started in life or getting a restart.....womens shelters, etc.

    Smiles:)

Those are great chairs and you got a fabulous bargain. However, if you don't have a place in your home where you could really use and love them I'd sell them to someone who could.

I looked at chairs from Hickory Chair on Ebay. Starting bids range from $100-$500, depending on style. Use that as a baseline and then factor in your geographic area. If you live near a metropolitan area (you mentioned IL--are you near Chicago?) then you could start them on CL at a higher price and see what happens. Be sure to focus on the brand name in the listing and take really good pictures. You could also do Ebay with a local pick up only. Ebay prices tend to run higher, but there are fees involved. Another option is to place them in a consignment shop. You pay a big commission that way, but if it's a good shop you got more discriminating buyers.

If I purchased the chairs for $40/pair and couldn't use them, I'd be happy to get $150-200 in resale. Good luck!
