Another Corner Sink Question!!

I have decided (I think) on the Blanco Diamond D shaped 24" undermount sink to put in a 36"corner cabinet. For anyone who has that sink/cabinet size, how far back from the edge of the counter does your sink sit?

Second question, if you have this sink and no prep sink, is this sink large enough for all-purpose use? Are you satisfied having this as your only sink? I won't be putting in a prep sink.

dgsr1, I hope you get some good answers here because I just finalized my layout with a 36 corner cab after I decided to downsize from the 39 angle sink front since I could not get the size sink I wanted and thought it would be better to add to the cabs and make a slightly larger countertop since I have to measure my kitchen in inches, not feet. I really like those sinks too and they come in such nice colors.

Mass murderers get shorter sentences than that! :-)

I don't have the Blanco sink you mentioned, but I do have a 24" undermount D-Sink in a corner base cabinet. The measurement from the granite edge to the sink is 4" which is ideal. I gave some input to catlover on her corner sink thread too. I actually have 2 D sinks (only 1 is in a corner cab). I think that size sink is plenty big--it even fits my large 17" long roasting pan no problem.

    Hope this helps!

It definitely helps! I'm sure people get tired of these tiresome corner sink questions, but for those of us plagued/blessed with corner sinks, the questions and answers are really important.

Catlover, I've been watching your postings with great interest. I was going to have a 42" corner cabinet but realized the 33" sink that I wanted would be pushed too far back. Plus, thanks to someone here, I checked my reach from a 42" to my three casement windows: I wouldn't be able to open two out of the three!

My current corner sink is terrible (except that it's granite, which I LOVE) - butterfly type with drainboard and a 13" inch side and a 10" side (picked out the sink myself when we moved in ten years ago - seemed like a good idea at the time). Even worse, the DW is butted up to the right angle corner cabinet (designed by a former owner, an architect, who did the last remodel).

I don't want to make another bad choice and have worried over this decision more than any other with the kitchen reno! Good luck to us both!

OMG, I just re-read my post. Sorry guys! I am one frazzled chick and I think I drank an entire pot of coffee and ate a whole bag of Cadbury mini eggs (the big bag) by myself that day. :-)

dgsr1, yes, good luck to both of us! A granite sink sounds so nice but I can see why you would not want to redo the batwing sink. I went to the store today with DH to play in the corner sink kitchen display. The 36 in corner sink cab had a 25x22 rectangle stainless steel sink with the 17 inch front and I must admit it wasn't terrible to me so I don't know why I am so worried about the corner sink. We pretended to prep, wash dishes, load the DW, open drawers. My layout has an 18 in cab between the sink and DW, theirs has a 21 inch cab plus a filler. 18 in is more than enough for me. DH said hon, just pull the trigger but I am going to discuss one more layout that is not a corner sink although I won't have the stretch of countertop (if you can call it that in a 110x101 kitchen) that I have in my current design. I am waiting for my contractor to confirm that a 25x22 silgranite sink will fit.

We did manage to accomplish something today - we scored an 18 in white DW in the clearance section for $139, originally $549. It was brand new, just out of the box, no dents or NOTHING and it has a stainless steel interior. I did want a panel ready but DH said let's see if we like the 18 in DW size before we invest those type of $$. You know I wanted a 24 but don't have the room. He does have some good ideas at times. Then the stock person brought it out and told me boy this is the smallest DW I have ever seen. It is for an apt. No . . A house really? I didn't know people put a DW of this size in a house. Sometimes it is better to be seen and not heard.

Catlover: I meant my ribbing good naturedly. I sure hope I didn't offend you. LOL at the Cadbury egg consumption!

Angie_DIY, not offended at all. I actually was skimming this post for sink help, saw the sentence and thought wow that's a long sentence, then became mortified when I realized it was my post! :-) I have to lay off the junk food and start eating more veggies but the stress is really getting to me.
