Custom made sinks

I'm considering a custom made stainless steel sink but have been unable to find any sources or companies online. Has anyone had one done? I'm in PA but any place that ships should be fine too. Any word on cost compared to readily available sinks? Thanks!

Julien is a Canadian company that will make a custom size sink. There are several people on the forum who have one. Another company is Handcrafted Metals (I think they are in Texas). Someone on the forum a few years ago got a gorgeous copper sink from them. I found this company, Rachiele, on the web but have no feedback about them.

    Good luck!

I know about Rachiele -- they are wonderful! We don't have one because we couldn't afford it, but I wish .... We were looking to have a stainless, apron front sink made and it was a bit over $3K back in '06. But I love how thoughtful they are with the placement of their drain and how it is so personalized. They want to know the height(s) of the people who will be using the sink, which hands you use predominantly, etc. Great customer service.

Have you tried SS countertop fabricators (I know, THEY are hard to find)? We had a countertop done and had a custom integrated sink done with it. They weren't a super artsy shop, but I wanted nice square edges anyway so it worked. I think the sink added a couple hundred to the price, about the sae as providing my own to have welded in.

But...they were in the Detroit area.

Try ELKAY. They do custom stuff. No idea on the price though.

We had a custom sink made by a sheet metal fabricator here in the Seattle area. Farmhouse style with a built in towel bar to match our range. It ended up costing less than one we purchased through Costco. (which was $400 less than retail, and the rail didn't match our range) I don't know if they ship, I'd assume the shipping would be quite costly. The link is below, just in case you'd like to take a look. We originally thought of custom metal work for our range hood--try asking at a local appliance retailer. They may help you find a fabricator. Good luck--we love the look of our sink and hood/backsplash! It's amazing what can be done with metal.

Thanks, everyone! I'll look into these and hopefully find something good. We're a bit frustrated since we've been told we can't go any wider than 17.5 inches OD and all the sinks we want are bigger. I wish they would have told us our max sink size from the beginning...we asked several times and each time they skirted around the issue and tried to sell us a D sink, which we don't want.

I have a custom single-bowl rectangular sink from Handcrafted Metal out of Texas (not to be confused with Handcrafted Metals in California, a completely different company). I love my sink. I had to get it custom made due to size constraints of my funky, corner location which was somewhat trapezoidal (don't ask), and in which no non-custom sink on the market would fit. I was able to get the EXACT size I wanted, the EXACT drain location I wanted (rear right) and the EXACT depth I wanted. Also, Handcrafted Metal stainless steel sinks are 14 gauge. I know there are plenty of threads on this Forum and the Appliances Forum saying that 16 or 18 gauge is fine. I'm sure that's true, but once you have a 14 gauge, well, it's just not the same at all. I found customer service to be very very helpful, very quick to return calls, give advice, and keep me updated. You give them dimensions, they send you drawings which you approve, then fabrication begins. I think it took about 6 weeks, but I am not sure. The only downside is the price. Mine was about $1400 or $1500 (several years ago) which FREAKED me OUT. But now, several years later, I feel it was worth every penny. I mean, I use this sink all day long. My alternative would have been a much smaller sink that would not have fit in my odd corner space very well.
