Painting Over Primer...Is It Needed?

Primed my basement ceiling (new drywall) last night. After one coat of primer it looks good. I have lots of leftover primer. Can I apply a 2nd coat of primer and be done OR should I purchase some white ceiling paint and apply a coat of it instead? Thanks in advance!

Hello M-man,

IMO, I think you'll find that actual paints will look more even & crisp. Plus, top-paints have better "hide" than even top primers.

It's GREAT that you primed the ceiling, but two topcoats of paint will really dress it up!
* Roll one coat E & W, 2nd coat N & S.
* Take the longest "passes" you can.
* Recently, someone posted a great link for ceiling-painting technique...and it's neat! To summarize: Roll the main body FIRST, rolling close to the edge to finish.
* THEN do the cut-in with brush!! If you're a good roller, you may only have to cut-in a 1" strip!!
