Beats me. Did they even bother to rank Farrow & Ball, Fine Paints of Europe, C2, Pratt & Lambert, Devine, Ellen Kennon, Panelone, Citron????

Bet they didn't. Never been a big fan of CR. There are better ways to learn what works and what doesn't. This forum among them.

I s'pose one reason for so few brands tested is that there's soooo many out there! Plus...paint co's periodically change formula's, add new lines, etc. By the time one test is done, it's probably obsolete!

I found out through a regional ACE-paint mgr. that CR doesn't release their paint-testing regimens. A few years back however, I remember an article of how they tested Deck-stains for fading, etc., but not paint???

There is a testing-lab that does readily release their testing...DL labs. Not sure where they are/how long in the business, etc., but ACE flat paint apparently topped one category.

Just FYI...(I do like reading their car tests though...)

I gave up consulting CR a long time ago. They test a narrow spectrum and their experience seldom matches my own. I'm not even a big fan of Cook's Illustrated, for similar reasons, although I think they are more worthwhile than CR. When one cannot access the design of the tests, it's impossible to tell whether their results are at all relevant. Even when one can access them, that often confirms the irrelevance.
