Decorative Plates/Transferware - Hanging & Selection

I am planning to hang some decorative plates in two different rooms and would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations.

DINING ROOM: I presently have a set of 4 vintage plates (size 10-1/2 in diameter) from my Grandma which I would like to hang and would appreciate some suggestions.

The best place to hang them would be my dining room. I think they would look good paired with the botanical prints I presently have in the room. I am considering a few different options for placement and an open to other suggestions as well.

1. in a vertical stack of 4 plates using a decorative plate rack and placing it to the right of the buffet where one of the botanical prints is now:

2. two plates to either side of the mirror, between the mirror and the botanical prints.

4. four plates placed horizontally above the mirror.

If I were to do Option 1, I would move the botanical print to the right of the cabinet to the left side wall where the last supper artwork is. The last support artwork I would place above the mirror.

LIVING ROOM:
I moved a few things around in my living room and would like to keep the sofa against the wall. I presently have the following artwork above the sofa (yes, I know it's not centered), but the scale feels too small.

I'd like to create a larger group using a set of toile plates (transferware). I'm thinking either black & white or red & white transferware plates. I'm wondering if it'd be better to stick to a single collection or shop for plates in sets of two in various sizes? I'm envisioning perhaps a total of 6 plates, 3 to either side of the painting. Before I start shopping on eBay for transferware would appreciate some suggestions to see if I'm on the right track as well as what may work best to give this wall more interest.

Or other option could be to swap the painting over the sofa with the fireplace painting.

I like option 1 the best. It's because of the somewhat casual vibe I get from the plates, and their colors. There is a lot of bright white in the plates, and I think that would look good next to the relatively large amount of white trim on that wall cabinet.

The LR and other side of the DR have a lot of warm tones, and to me, if the plates were hung there, the white and bright yellow of the plates would stand out oddly.

Thanks, lynxe for your feedback. I wasn't thinking of putting these plates in the DR as I agree they do not go. I was thinking of purchasing more traditional toile/transferware plates for this room and putting the "Yellow Hibiscus" plates in the DR. They do have sentimental value and I've stored them in a cabinet for years, but would like to display them in someplace.

For the LR, presently I'm drawn to the Asiatic Pheasant design in Black & White.

I know little about toile transferware, other than I like it, so before starting off a collected look am hoping others may chime in with suggestions regarding colors, patterns and sizes.

The link below is a great place to find transferware. She has a large selection of nice pieces and it might be a good place to compare. She also does custom wall arrangements with any number of plates.

I like the 4 plates to the right of the buffet whether on a plate rack or hung separately.

I would not hang anything above the DR mirror as I think it will be too high.

Definitely hang something larger over the sofa. Try the painting that's over the mantel, it should be large enough.

Perhaps put the DR mirror above the mantel and do a collection of transferware plates on the DR wall. With your color scheme I think black and white is best. Many of the reds in transferware tend to pinkish tones which I don't think would work with your scheme. Of course there are many other colors to choose from or you could be very careful to choose only the really red tones.

Find another place for the botanicals, perhaps they could be hung in a group.

I would hang your grandmother's plates to the right of buffet. I think the painting above the sofa is too small. Do you have something larger you can put there instead?
