Glam room

I would like to "glam" this living room to make it a semi formal yet liveable living area. It is adjacent to the dining area ( which has not yet been furnished). Contemporary theme used throughout with gray,yellow/gold and cream tones. I am planning on using mirrored accents and shiny silver compliments in this living room. My question is......how can I " dress up" the plain sofa and love seat? Coffee table? What about the side chair? Any ideas?

First thing would be to add a few more throw pillows, ones with a fabric with sheen or metallic accents. A mirrored pedestal table next to the chair would be nice. And to set the theme, get a coffee table book on classic Hollywood for the lower level of table.

I imagine the tv stand is a temporary fix!

Thanks pcmom! Yes, I am looking to make the tv media console the centerpiece of the room. Still looking for just the right piece:). Do you think I could make the coffee table I have work?

Coffee table seems too small to me (but I am not a designer!). I can see it used as a end table between the chair and the sofa.

Very first thing, before the throw pillow hunt, would be rich silk panels for your windows. Check out places such as Tuesday Morning (I got mine there for $50 per panel). Be sure they are long enough, short and skimpy doesn't translate to glam.) Then find the pillows that would work with furniture and drapes.

Hi Sharon! You need a great rug underneath to pull it all together and keep the furnishing foro blending into the carpet. Also, the small table is too small scale for that grouping. You could perhaps use it as a side table though. It is also too dark I feel. To "glam it up" you might consider painting it a metallic sheen. I see you like purple, as evidenced by the bows on your ivory pillows. Purple is " it" now! Any and all shades will be everywhere this year. Your rug might have some shades of purple in it, or keep it more neutral and add pillows, throws w purple shades, drapery panels with a stripe of some shade of purple you like. Look here on Houzz for ideas. You could get a mirrored finish oval cocktail table and some lamps with glitz. Have fun! Best of luck!

If you pain the coffee table and use it as a side table it could have a feel similar to this:

Amazing the different feel of the table by refinishing it!

I would get some artwork that you love and once you find it you can use its dominate color to use for your accessories. Repeat your accent more than once. Check out Etsy.com for artwork and pillows. Just use their search engine and type in what you would like. For instance, photography Paris, St. Thomas, horses, flowers or pillows. I have a photography shop, nancyhehmann.

For area rugs, Capel.com has a lot and Target.com or JCPenney.com -depending on your budget. Your blinds look extremely informal. You could use roman shades and drapes -JCPenney.com has many. Roman shades can also be ordered from Lowes or Home Depot and they have great curtain rods.

You might want to incoporate a plant into your decor. If you have never tried to grow anything, you almost cannot kill a Peace plant.
