It's not the paint, it's the lack of proper preparation. Clean walls in a bathroom are a rare find. The painter most likely took a short cut and bypassed a pro prep step of washing and dulling the existing surface.

You'll need to feather sand the peeled areas; wash the surface with ammonia/water mix or Dirtex (preferred) and repaint with a good quality bathroom paint like Zinsser PermaWhite or comparable product.

Call the professional painter and ask him to come fix it.

If not poor prep, then it could be that all of the wallpaper paste was not removed and then it was painted over. If that is the case then you need to prime with an oil based primer or Gardz.

Thanks you for the advice. The painter looked at it today. He is suggesting to replace the exhaust fan (it does work, but it is a smaller one). I told him my concerns as to proper prep work - I will also ask him about the wallpaper paste being all removed. The bathroom is small and mold is appearing. We did not have this problem with the paper, always something...!!!

A bathroom should be painted with a paint that resists mold on the paint film. Use a high quality paint for a bathroom next time.
