to prime or not to prime?

I believe in priming however in this case I bought a mid 80's built high rise condo which is homely but in pretty good shape and I think it might be overkill. It's painted a horrible beige but paint is flat and walls are in good condition. I will sand and wash the walls but I am thinking of skipping the primer - I'm using fairly light colours all from a white base (paint will be 100% acrylic and is considered self priming). Looking for what others would do and why.

I wouldn't prime either but certainly would not trust any paint that said it was " self priming". The whole concept makes no sense at all.Go with a QUALITY 100% acrylic paint.

I wouldn't over a beige - I hate priming so only do it over darker colors.

Appreciate the advice. It is a good quality 100% Acrylic paint and not the only paint on the market to make the "self priming" claim (Aura does as well - which I would disregard if I was painting over new drywall)

Yes it's spam but Homestead does make a cool product - they have a great milk paint line.
