I have always had trouble with the dust on the metal intake covers (air conditioning/heating covers). The dust just clings to them. We have two Golden Retrievers, and as they run, their dander flies. It is difficult to try to manage the dander, but the intake covers always look dusty.

Is there a special type of paint that I could use for these metal covers that would make them slick and keep the dander from sticking? It comes off easily with a brush, but since I need to paint them anyway, I wondered if there was a special product that you know of.

The guy at Lowe's said to just use any exterior paint. I am not sure that is correct.
