Finally found software. Do you like?

I finally found my camera software and can show pics. We've discussed my sandstone countertops and my pendant lights. Well, here's my sanstone sample with backsplash samples and my pendant lights. I know...amethyst?? It picks it out of the counter. I was pulling my hair out trying to find a pendant that I liked witht the counter. The lights actually changed my backsplash choice. Originally it was the 2x2 ag glass with speckles. I went back to ge the sample again and spotted the onyx with glass(yes, some of those are kind of purply) The onxy looks washed out in the pick but it has subtle coloring similar to the lights in the sandstone.

Here's my pic:)

Tell me about your door trim!

It's 4" flat stock with plith? blocks on the bottom. The top Cornice? is built by my builder. He used a flat piece and a couple different trim pieces.

Here's a pic showing it all better

I hesitate to get involved in "how about this color" threads, because color is so personal and there is really no right or wrong answer. But here goes.

The top photo is awfully monochromatic. Everything is pretty much sandstone, meaning that all the tiles are colors already found in the sandstone. That is kind of interesting but without getting some major contrast in there, I'd worry the whole thing will end up like standing in a desert wash, wearing tan boots, looking down at a brown rock. Even if it is a sparkly rock, the effect might be a bit too subtle.

    What will your cabinets be?

The cabinets are glazed maple. After I brought home the onxy sample, the ag glass just looked to matchy, matchy. The onyx looks good with it but not matchy matchy. I was trying to keep the backsplash simple because the sandstone has soooo much color and movement. Here is am example:

OMG, I think I found what I want for my kitchen!!!

I have white cabinets and was thinking of a wood countertop. From your decorating "board" it all looks great together. Where did you get the various tiles? You've saved me a lot of fretting...oh in case you haven't figured it out I love your combinations.

Very pretty. I think the light gives a lovely accent color to pick up in other accent pieces.

The countertop is Ozark Mountain Gold sandstone quarried here in my county in Arkansas. Every piece is different. Even each side. Steven(the quarry guy)has to cut some more so I can choose my slabs and sides. I told him "The wilder, the better" To the left of my kitchen pic is my family room. I already picked the slab for in front of my fireplace(not installed yet-this week I hope)Someone else posted about a rainbow sandstone(I think she was out west somewhere) The backsplash tiles are from HD. Onyx is MSI Mosaic Diamonte glass and natural stone. The speckled is MSI also. It's called brown ag glass.

I love color!! Its been somewhat hard for me to stick to neutrals. I decided to go with traditional neutrals that flow with the original woodwork and add color where it is fairly easy to change... I am having one wall cabinet made to look like an old random cabinet that I just happened to come across. It will be a bright yellow and something I can repaint if I decide to change things up down the road. I really wanted subway tile in one of those pretty greens or blues but decided on a safe cream color. In decorating this house, especially my bedroom, I have really learned how gorgeous the right mix of neutrals can be!

I love color too!:) DH isn't opposed to the purple lights either(really surprises me). Our old house we built 10 years ago. Every room had been painted atleast twice(some more) My kitchen breakfast and hall to garage were brick red! My laundry was mossy green. At one point DD's room had every wall a different color(yellow, green-lime,blue and pink) then it went to SW Calypso Blue(BRIGHT TEAL)and SW Limelight(BRIGHT LIME GREEN) Though I prefer softer colors in my bedroom.

DH has slowly learned color in you life is more exciting than every thing neutral.

Weird.. my post above was meant to be in the "do you like color in your kitchen" thread.. haha. Anyway, I think your choices are gorgeous. It is feminine without being too feminine! Different from what we usually see and I love that!!

I like your choices! love the granite! you can put more purple in the kitchen - in a vase, art work, a towel, etc. I've seen pots and pans in eggplant enamel too. I'd even buy those if I cooked enough to justify the expense and space they'd need for storage.

I've been checking into pieces to bring more purple in. I really like the eggplant KA mixer but seeing how I have a perfectly good on in yellow I don't think I can justify the cost. Hope it doesn't get dropped if we ever get to move in. I may donate it to my(recently divorced) twin brother though I don't know if he would appreciate the color. (He likes to cook so he probably wouldn't care about the color)

I see pinkish-beige in the mosaic and yellows in the sandstone.

If it's not your lighting, you have a color undertone mismatch that will drive you subtly crazy.

The finished counter I posted isn't mine. (You can get more of the yellow tones like the one I posted) The sandstone shown with the backsplash is the color I'm going for in my slabs. It has pink and purple veins in it. You see them even more with the onxy backsplash. The AG glass brings out the browns and oranges. It doesn't read yellow in person.

I not only like, I _love_! And it's not even human.
