Would any of these work? They have several varieties with different colors/wood species and countertop options. They seem to be in the $600-800 range.

There are a couple on Kitchencarts.com which might be a little too big, but are very nice looking.

Bellacor has a nice one that comes with a stainless top, but that could be replaced. It's also a little larger than you said, though.

There are more tea carts in your size. Maybe you could use one for the legs.

thanks so much! I have been searching online for weeks and never came up with the options here. It seems my challenge may be in the sizing. I bought an inexpensive island off of craigs list that is 2'x3' so I could live with it for size. I am SURE I can't go larger, and would like it to be closer to 24"x30".

I could be possible to get one of the type you have to assemble (wood) and cut the pieces down to make it fit - it would require drilling some different holes and touch up some edges, but its something you may be able to do if you need to cut 6" off one side.

I really like the one at the bottom of the link Worldmom posted - it's 33x20 closed and the top opens up to 47x20.

I need a cart on wheels that fits into an opening in a wall cupboard made just for it. When I'm canning, I need more reachable counterspace around the cooktop.

The big "O" has several to look at. I've linked to one that's a good size and has a drop leaf, but if you search kitchen carts you'll see many others as well. It's nice to find such a low price for shipping heavy furniture!

Okay, if the range is to smaller, it seems your best bet might be a tea cart. But in looking at tea carts on cookware.com, I saw this serving cart which is wood, but it's your size, granite topped, open, and counter height. Not quite your description, but it looks quite good.

Not as decorative as some, but lighter than Boos and the right size. This Variation is to the outside of your size requirements, but still under 3'. There's also a rounded one, which is a little more interesting, but an inch over. You can put a new top on, or refinish the wood in a dark color.

This is really cool looking, but probably too narrow for you. Perhaps your carpenter could use it as a base, and improve the dimensions. Maybe even add a center shelf.

I love the last one "cool looking" - it may be a good base for an island. That one just might be it!
