Persistent Puss

We have a soft spot for calicos. Our cat is a calico, so when a small calico showed up and started in on the "poor, pitiful puss" routine we fell for it. She got fed several times a day--she was a real Hoover--and got a basket with a blanket on the back porch. We couldn't let her in because our indoor calico doesn't share well.

After a week of being followed around by TOC (The Other Calico)and shoveling food down her, and not being able to sit on the patio without a cat on our laps, we found out she belonged to the couple that live just down the road! TOC was taken home complete with her basket (which she had grown fond of) and we thought that was the end of it, relieved she wasn't a stray and that we wouldn't have to do the shots/spaying/worming thing.

You guessed it! She was back the next morning, having walked across two fields and having worked up an appetite! We are not feeding/watering her, hoping she will give up and go home. Yeah, right. Cats are probably a lot more persistent that humans. The rightful owners keep trying to get her to stay home with no luck. I think TOC has figured out having four people at your beck and call is better than having just two!

Thought y'all might like to hear a happy story about a cat.
