Need help decorating kitchen

I need some ideas for adding some color to my kitchen. I think it needs something but I am not sure what. Thought about some fiestaware but not sure of colors. My curtains are burgundy and I am thinking about doing a burgundy roman shade over the sink. I can't figure out how to add that pop to the area. Also we still haven't chosen a backsplash, I am about to give up on that. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Here is the kitchen, but the pointsetta is no longer there.

Here are my curtains over the slider.

I looks as though you've already bought all your necessary counter top items in stainless or black and they look great it your pretty kitchen. You've already picked the burgundy for your window treatments so you have a good start. I'd change the towel to burgundy and something decorative for the island in that color too. I've seen a deep red in utensils that would add some color to your black ones. I remember you mentioning before you'd like to stay with a neutral for you black splash, I'm wondering if adding some color in some smaller tiles about three quarters up would help that area pop. Use a number of colors that you love so later you'll be able to choose on when you're ready for a change from the burgundy.

Here's what I was talking about. You could make the colorful tiles according the Fiesta colors you love.

Since you already have the burgundy drapes right next to the kitchen, I'd carry that same fabric to the window over the sink and maybe a couple of decorative objects that are burgundy - a towel, a vase etc.

You could do a creamy color subway tile that matches your island top as a backsplash and put a thin strip of black to accent the black counters.

I agree that you need a little more color, and a burgandy valance will help. Why don't you change out your utensil holder for one that is more colorful? And what about a colorful canister set? You could also change the material on your barstools, though I like the navy blue, it just doesn't pop.

Personally I would be very careful about putting anything but neutrals on the backsplash because I change my mind too often!

Why not a decorative colorful object - like a large rooster! Other items I have in my kitchen that are colorful are a lamp, cookbooks, spice rack, and fruit. You probably don't need too much, just about three colorful items would bring in enough color to liven up the space.

Instead of putting a solid shade on the kitchen window, what about using a print with burgandy in it?

I agree about adding color to your backsplash. If you go too neutral you'll get sick of it and wish you did the opposite!

One thing which would be cute are the Fiestaware flower pots and saucers. I found them at Amazon but they're kind of pricey, but would be cute on the windowsill with small plants in them.

Any ideas on a print curtain to tie into the burgundy? Also like the idea of fiestaware salt and pepper shakers, a untensil crock, small planters, but what color would you use? Would the cinnabar fiesta which is closest to the burgundy curtain be too boring? I want to keep it modern but add some color. Please help.....

    Here are the fiesta colors:

I agree with Oakley that a print with burgundy in it, rather than another solid, would be more interesting for the kitchen window. Maybe a stripe that has the burgundy, black, and beige (something close to your wall color)? You could use more than one color of the Fiestaware, too -- maybe continue with the burgundy (Cinnabar), black (Black), and beige (Ivory) theme. Just a thought. I like mixing dishes of different colors.

If you're not going to tile the backsplash right away, I'd go ahead and just continue the paint so it feels more "finished." When we did our first kitchen reno, it took me four years before I could pick out tile for our backsplash!
