In a word, yes!

My ex-husband has my two former cats because the female adored him and all other males and spent her alone time plotting ways to rid the world of female humans. The other cat was her son and a total mama's boy, so he got to stick around, too. She was reasonably tolerant of me, but she attacked my mother and other female guests on a regular basis. My ex-husband mentioned that she was just as hateful to other female guests (after we split up). Any male guest could wander into our home, and the cat became absolute mush and lavished him with affection. For meghane: that female is a dilute tortie, lol.

My current female cats both prefer my boyfriend, as well. He doesn't even feed them! I've declared that our next cat will be a big orange neutered male. I've not met many who aren't at least equal-opportunity lovers. :)

I've had cats my whole life, and I have never had a cat prefer a gender. Either they are shy or not, is my experience.

I do have a torti, who is fearless, but not aloof. She is into everything and everywhere I want to be.

My 2 year old male is extremely partial to female humans. He is afraid of every man that comes into our house and just tolerates my DH. He will approach and seek attention from female guests, however.

Cats are very intelligent animals with individual likes and dislikes. It always interests me when people try to categorize torties and calicos as difficult-natured. The cat who raised me was a tortie. She was the ultimate cat in every way. She had no gender preference, though she certainly did bond most closely with me.

Then there was Pea, a dilute tortie. She hated everyone except my husband and I. She never attacked anyone. She just didn't want anything to do with anyone until she was very elderly.

Now there's Somer, a calico, who wants to be in everyone's face ... literally. She'll demand lap time from anyone who enters the house, whether they want it or not. Funny thing is, she has very strong opinions about her own personal space and will routinely hiss if I walk too close to her on the floor.

Each cat is different. Your tuxedo female just doesn't like women. It's unlikely you're going to change her mind.

Hmmm....our first cats were girls, and they loved both me and my DH equally--when they wanted mommy, they wanted mommy, and when they wanted daddy.... They were my cats before we'd met, but they still loved us both.

Our cats now we've had since they were kittens (gotten 5 months apart at different ages). Both are girls. One is clearly a mommy's girl, though she's recently (at 5 yrs of age) started to seek out DH's attention more and more. Our younger cat (will be 5 in March) is "over the moon" for her daddy. She's come quite a ways with me, but is nowhere near as affectionate with me as she is with her daddy. Hope springs eternal that she will eventually shower me with as much affection (although, I'm not holding my breath or anything! LOL).

Both my girls are torties. They are extremely sweet and loving. The older one is constantly trying to sit on my lap. I've heard people say that calicos and torties have "attitude", but it's a bogus claim. My younger kitty is often fearful when men or women who have loud voices come into the house. In her case, it's a loudness thing rather than a gender thing- with most mens' voices being louder and deeper than women's. Could your kitty have something like that going on?

I've had 2 calico cats. Neither showed a general preference for males. Tinkerbell adored DH (and the feeling was mutual), but I haven't seen a dog or cat that didn't adore him. Lulu preferred cats to humans, but that is changing. She never bonded with DH's cats when we combined households. She's the last of "my" cats, so she more interested in humans now.

I tend to look for patterns. Sometimes it can be as simple as kitty's nose being overwhelmed by the scent in one's cosmetics.

Humm, the comment about cosmetics makes me think. I don't wear alot of makeup but it seems every toiletry made for women to use has some kind of scent. My hair gel, deodorant... etc.

She does like to smell my eyelashes... maybe I will try to find some of these products in unscented varieties.

My eldest female (and yes, a calico) does not like women either. She used to be 100x worse than she is now. She'd puff up and go screaming and howling into a corner. Except with me. She LOVED and still Loves me more than anyone else.

Men she adored.

Now she's better, she'll even sit on women's laps, but they aren't allowed to touch her or she'll nip at them or hiss. I am the only person male or female she'll let touch her for as long as I want.

She also dislikes kids. I think it might have something to do with higher pitched voices. Kids and women have higher pitched voices than men - although I have a girly voice and she still loves me, so who knows!

She also growls at the door when someone's coming up the walkway - she's my little guard kitty.

My 5 year old male does not like men and loves most women. He follows me everywhere but is sort of afraid of my fiance (and for no good reason as my three females adore him)

My 3 year old female who still thinks she is a kitten LOVES most males. She adores my fiance (is a very timid cat and hates to be picked up and held. She will let him pick her up and hold her like a baby in his arms and scratch her belly. She gets this blissful look on her face when he does this. She will not let anyone else do this- if I try to pick her up she will scratch and struggle to be put down. She also loves my best guy friend who used to stay at our house one night a week. If she hears his voice on the answering machine she runs around the house looking for him.

She doesn't hate women but she definately prefers men for some reason.

My five year old female hates kids. She will growl if she hears one playing outside. I've never heard her growl at anything or anyone else other than children.

Some female cats are just like that... as some male cats are. There's nothing you can really do.

Is she spayed?- if not, do this!

Is your cat De clawed? that ( besides being cruel, illegal in some countries, and painful) can lead to a change in personality, for the worst!

I've been bit by a de clawed cat( a nip), but the owner had a band add on her arm! Clawed cat bite too but not as much as "whole"- sexually intact, or de clawed cats.

My parents got this tiny burmese female cat and she didn't like women and wouldn't let my mom or me come near her at all. But my dad could go up to her and touch her.
I worked and worked with her and would come up very quietly and touch her and it was hard. She never liked us to pick her up until she got eye infection as she scrated her eye and I had to pick her up all the time and bring her to my mom to get the drops put in. She would be like a solid board in my arms and then one day I felt her relaxing.

yes, cats can be scared of women or men, depending on something happening to them by one of them.

It honestly has nothing too with gender cats choose their humans.we have a female kitten and she will attack me or run from me and other things but she loves my husband and I feed her and water her.
