When in doubt pull out the newspaper or craft paper and cut a shape like what you are looking for. Lay it in place and see how it looks.
It's alot cheaper to play with paper and spend a little time cutting a shape out than it is to spend time and energy having something made that in the end doesn't please you any way.

Have you ever seen the rug tiles? I have been considering them for our mud room because if one tile gets dirty, you can just take it out & replace. You can make the rugs any size & shape so I think it may work for you. The brand I am looking at is called Flor.

I invested in Gel Pro mats.They are excellent for standing long periods and come in a variety of colors and textures and you can do the interactive display they have to see how a mat would look in your kitchen. They are absolute leg savers!
