Cabin Fever

My lovable mutt has recently taken up the bad habit of NOT coming when I call him at the end of a walk. And it generaly happens in the morning before work when time is an issue. I'm hoping its just a passing phase.... I started a new job in September with long hours, which ended our 2 hour daily off leash-hikes we had enjoyed all summer long. Now the long hikes are saved for weekends, and he gets leash walks during the week. Occasionally I get to go in a little bit later, so I take advantage of that extra time to take Tucker to one of our favorite spots where he can run off leash. Three times in the past few weeks he has refused to come to me at the end, prefering instead to run around in the complete opposite direction for abount 15 or 20 minutes longer. I know in his little doggie mind is filled with dread as he is thinking "oh no, it's time to get cooped up in the house for hours on end again!" I can't say I blame him. But those occasional behavioral deviations are making me late for work. And hiring a daily dog walker is just not in the budget. I guess it's back to the training field for a little refresher course.

Any other northerners out there having a similar problem with their pups as we wind down this long snowy winter?
