Here's the back story....that top is silk and I was sweating profusely, I was so nervous. OMG, what was I thinking when I got dressed?!! I tend to talk A LOT (like I write) and kinda fast, so I was working so hard to stay mindful about how I was speaking. We filmed for an hour! There were times when I would just lose it and start giggling...I just couldn't take it. :-)

The young woman who did the filming was a college student, working as an intern for the local paper. I think she did a really fabulous job. I was afraid to watch the video....you know how hard it is to see oneself on film. I gotta say, I was actually okay with it. A small miracle!

I meet people almost every day who could use your help. Their angst is so apparent when they talk about color selection.
I bet the people you consult with heave a big sigh of relief when you walk in!

Actually, I am intrigued by your comment and wonder what you do, where you work. I am often brought in when people's lives are in flux, usually changing things for the better, big life-cycle events, etc. I have been speaking with Professional Organizers, talking about these kinds of shifts and how what we do in both professions assists in the process. Kind of interesting...

I enjoyed it too, and yes that color girl looks too young!! but in a good way. congrats!

Amy, I own a home decor store in N. IL. Color is always a key element in the conversations I have with customers. The biggest fear I hear about is the paint! It seems so overwhelming and permanent to them. I have the BM and Behr chips in the showroom and they are usually referenced when fabric or rugs are chosen.

I would love to have a go-to person to help my customers. I could (and have!) helped with paint choices, but there are other areas I am better at and would rather focus on. Like helping with the furnishings... Not sure what the demand would be in my area for a color expert, I am not a high end store. I start at 99 cents :) and can go up to $1,000 or so for a sofa or area rug.

Great to see you written up in the news, Amy, and all the best to you in your endeavor, I'm sure your biz will be a great success. My SIL is in North Leverett, so I know the area, and know that there are lots of people there who could use help breaking out of that staid New England color rut!

Hey Amy, just curious..... If one of my customers want to work with a color consultant, can a color consultant consult (that's a lot of consults in one paragraph!) via the internet/phone rather than in home?

Yes, it can be done. It takes a lot of communication. What I can accomplish in a matter of hours in-home takes a couple weeks (or more) via the internet.
