Hank Update

Hank's surgery was last Friday. The good news is he came through the surgery just fine. The bad news is they found a very large tumor in his armpit under the scapula. They sent a sample off for biopsy but we won't know what his prognosis is for about a week. I found a very large cushy dog bed on sale at Walmart for $25 so we got it for the Hank dog and he is currently esconsed in the laundry room on his bed. We are pampering him as much as possible, he even got breakfast in bed. His biggest problem is he loses his balance when he lifts his leg to pee.

When it rains, it pours. When I got home Friday after checking on Hank, I found my 15 1/2 year old Catahoula Katie unable to walk and panting heavily. Rushed her to the vet who diagnosed congestive heart failure and sent her home with meds. The meds didn't make a significant improvement in her condition so this morning I let her go to the Bridge. I didn't think it was right for a dog that used to leap onto the back of the truck, chase rabbits and cows and accompany me for miles when I rode my horse to have to suffer being unable to walk more than a few steps and then be in what seemed to be pain. RIP, Katie, best dog I ever had.
