We called a local tile shop that was listed as a dealer/distributor pf these tiles. They in turn contacted the manufacturer who sent us a sample (no charge). They're very nice tiles.

Are you sure the Daltile doesn't have some sort of backing? If not mesh, then paper or clear tape? Call Daltile or go to their showroom and get a sample. In many months of looking for backsplash tile & lots of mosaics, I've not seen one mosaic that isn't backed.

Otherwise, here is a brand I have seen and like very much. And not too pricey either.

We have some Daltile sample boards right now, and it is tough to tell what kind of backing the mosaics have. They appear to just be glued on the board in rows. That said, the "packing and shipping" information gives all the information by the "sheet" (as in how many tiles per sheet and how many sheets per carton), so I think it's a safe bet that there's some kind of backing.

i did iridescent from oceanside tiles(many choices) and they were 1" x 1"; they were paperbacked and after installing you wet the paper to remove it

I bought my irridescent glass tiles from ColorGlassOnline.com. They have literally hundreds of colors and will send you up to three samples for free. Additional samples are $3 for S&H. I ordered the tile on a Sunday afternoon and it was here on Tuesday. And yes, t hey are mesh backed. Here's a picture of my back splash.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I am sorry that I have not responded- we just moved back into our (almost!) remodeled house on Monday March 31, and finally got our internet service up and running today.

I have now ordered some samples based on the recommendations, and will double check with Daltile.
