Bad CraigsList (CL) postings thread

I keep seeing CL threads popping up on here occasionally, so thought we should just start a dedicated thread for them.

I'll start!

I'd say that the price is not the only thing reduced. LOL I can't even see the furniture! :)

What a gross house...is what I was thinking when I opened this...looks like they had a party and spent too much money so decided to sell their furniture (they have several listings and all their stuff is covered with trash/junk)

Find the dining table for sale:

    {{!gwi}}

Ok, here's one that's just gross!

Brutuses, we used to have one of those when I was a kid! I loved to turn it on in reverse, whatever that's called.

This is hysterical! This wouldn't be anyone's DH, now would it?!? LOL!!

This last few have been a scream!

Here is a really sweet one, with a catchy title. Very clever!

I just had to post this one! How many points for misspelling "chic"?

(in the listing she spelled it "Sheik" - I can just see Omar Sharif in rags LOL!)

Here is a link that might be useful: Shabby Sheik

We have so many of those "sheik" living room and bed rooms sets sets in my area. I always imagine gold fringe on the furniture and Rudolph Valentino lounging in a haze of cigarette smoke.

Years ago, I was attending a ladies' luncheon with a fashion show. The person announcing the outfits kept calling them *chick* like the baby chicken. There was a "chick look for spring" and a "chick purse" to go with an outift. She kept rapping out the words "It's chick. It's chick. Really, really chick." I can't believe the woman did not bother to read her speech aloud to someone who could have her with it, before presenting it to a room of 500 people.

I got a kick out ot the text here...
Bet this will be around for a while, even at that price ;-)

You have to read the text here --
They may look like it, but these AREN'T leopard!...

That print ottoman is a riot. Ugly and stupid looking.

    -------------------

The title says Prom/Homecoming dress. What teenage girl wouldn't feel swank in this little number? With the tweed blazer to top it off it will make her feel like a real queen? The description says the dress has glitter glued to it.

"Maybe he'll propose that night you wear this huh?"

    {{!gwi}} {{!gwi}}

They want $50 for it! That's FIFTY DOLLARS. I've bought better things at Goodwill for $2.99.

    Lovely dress.

I actually think the corner wedge (redundant?) could find a place. Could see curling up in a lotus or something.

Mine is "for $6,000 couldn't you have spelled ONE of the words correctly?"

    Gosh...that dress looks awful! Yuck!!!!

I have another one. You'll get a chuckle out of this one. :) Actually, this was the second such listing today, but from different owners.

This might be a lovely table - I see a leg in there somewhere - but where's the table?

Here is a link that might be useful: Table?

    That is weird.

I think I figured it out - the table is in pieces, leg is leaning against wall (see 3 other legs nearby?), the underside of the table is against the window and the top of the table is facing the camera in one picture. The carved apron picture is taken looking down from ceiling up against window.

you think they'd have mentioned it was in 5 pieces!

Forget the price, would you be tempted to buy *anything* from someone with a mouth like this?

Well, I was really not expecting this picture when I clicked on the ad:

ajsmama - That "F" word will really bring in the buys! lol

clt3 - Do they come termite protected? I'll bet they are comfortable, though.

I don't think I want to eat on these!

Oh, gee, this table goes perfectly with those chairs someone found...should I?

ANWAR - The best spelling yet!

Maybe we should start a thread dedicated to misspellings of "armoire" LOL?

I guess I should email the seller and ask if the Anwar is shabby sheik?

Does anyone know what a 'faux loveseat' is? This ad has 2 of them, and the seller "will throw in a rocker/recliner with a 6" tear to the front of the left arm for free. "

Here is a link that might be useful: plus FREE damaged chair!

I think they mean faux leather...like this listing for Pleather. At least they are being honest about what they have, but my guy has to be dreaming if he thinks he can get $1000 for a used pleather couch and love seat that has been off to college. :)
    http://tricities.craigslist.org/fuo/1234346746.html

And another dreamer. These guys should really check the current price of such items before trying to get top dollar for a piece of junk and a broken TV.

What is it with people selling their "dinning" room tables? Drives me crazy!

Oh dear....here's one for the "Too much information" list....read to the end of it: "THIS DOUBLE RECLINER IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. I PAID $1.200.00 FOR IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE MATERIAL IS , I BELIEVE, A MICRO FIBER SUEDE. I'M ALMOST SURE IT'S A WALL-AWAY SO YOU DON'T NEED TO PLACE IT FAR FROM THE WALL. THE REASON I'M SELLING IT IS ONLY BECAUSE MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY AND I JUST CANT SIT IN IT ANYMORE--TOO MANY MEMORIES."

Did he pass away in the chair! I think I'll pass on the chair.

"Anwar the shabby sheik" I laughed until tears ran down my face!

Here's a good one. Gives a little decorating advice, too!

I especially like the fact that this poster has a back-up plan for when she "loses" communication. LOL

OK, this isn't that "bad" but someone must have heard we were keeping track of misspellings of "armoire" so just gave up!

Here is a link that might be useful: Wood Clothes Closet

I've always thought it had to be 100 yrs old (furniture) - I'm willing to give it 85 -90 yrs instead. But what are these? 60 yrs old? In 25 years could these be valuable antiques?

Holy Mother of God! I'm speechless...

I've never seen a chair used on a 3-holer before!

Ajsmama - I laughed until I had tears in my eyes over the "armua" posting......

There's someone on our CL that's trying to sell an old, horrible, clapped-out armless office chair, probably from 1985, for $5.00. He does NOT give up and keeps posting it.

And I have to say if I see another posting for a DINNING room table, I'm going to pull my hair out!

folk - check out the "Anwar" (Egypt link I posted)!

Ajsmama - unfortunately, most of the links have gone bad since they've been timed-out of CL. I was unable to see the picture of the Shabby Shiek and I especially missed the "decretive doors" on the armua. (My poor husband came into the room last night and found me in tears over the computer - it took a minute to explain it all to him. He's very smart but is spelling-challenged, so I shouldn't laugh!)

the "TV ANWAR" was there last night - but you didn't miss much, the funny was in the title.

Too bad you didn't get to read the whole ad for the amua with decretive doors though - it was a hoot!

oceangirl - the ad was removed, but was it something like this?

Here is a link that might be useful: $100 potty

How much would *you* pay for this vintage (not antique) lamp?

Here is a link that might be useful: Vintage lamp

That lamp reminds me of a bit in Animal Crackers:

GROUCHO: What do you fellows get an hour?

CHICO: Ah for playing, we getta ten dollars an hour.

GROUCHO: What do you get for not playing?

CHICO: Twelve dollars an hour. . . . Now for rehearsing, we make special rate. Thatsa fifteen dollars an hour.

GROUCHO: And what do you get for not rehearsing?

    CHICO: You couldn't afford it.

ajasmama - I knew I should have grabbed that picture.

It was an actual 3-holer like you would find in a shed. Over the right hole was a chair. The chair was one that we had in grade school - metal legs and hard plastic seat and back. The middle of the seat was cut out.

Maybe it was a handicapped 3 holer?

I have laughed so hard at these. Thanks for posting!!!

This is a new one for me with the misspelling.

The table has seen better days, too.

I think this guy needs to re-evaluate what he is selling. Even if it had it's doors (which would make it a nice piece), I wouldn't pay more than $50 because of when it was made.
