And of course you need a bigger one

I love tribal rugs and I think the colors are fine--but you do need some bigger art, so perhaps you could hang it on the wall, and get something similar or nuetral for the floor, and a coffee table. Also the couch could use fewer pillows scattered more, but the colors are good. Maybe about five, rather than 8. I actually took stuffing out of some of mine because I like them squishy and I can layer them better.

It is a beautiful rug, but I agree that it is too small for the space.

Lovely colours! The rug works well with the cushions, which might pack more punch spread out a bit. What if you place the rug somewhere else in the room where it is not circumscribed by the space available and yet emphasizes the colours of your accessories? I would work with the placement of the rug and the art work. A longer , more horizontal piece of art ( that is not blue) may work better than the present three. The door might be better a more neutral colour. Janis's idea of a neutral base rug is great one too. But you've got some interesting colours and patterns going so it is going to look great.

Like the idea of hanging the rug on the wall, it would really cosy up the room and then buy a larger plain rug in either cream or caramel for the floor. What are the two squares on the wall behind the lounge? They don't do anything for me as they are.

Agree you could lose a couple of cushions but your colour choice is great.

Personally, I think either way you turn the rug it's going to look awkward. It looks like it would work better as a bedside rug. Try a large round rug that will fit under the legs of the sofa: [houzz=]

Even tho two of these rugs look more square they are available in round.

Thank you for the links and advice, If you are referring to the Kilim pillows I bought them as grain sacks while working in Turkey. I have several more which I am going to sell in the near future.

I have a very beautiful yet too small rug I wanted to use. I layered it on top of an appropriate-sized, sissel rug. Looks fabulous! I have received many compliments on the arrangement. Your rug is beautiful, and I'm sure it makes you happy to look at it. So much better than the cookie cutter stuff everyone else has. I, too, have traveled Turkey and Morocco. How those experiences changed me for the better. I came back so liberated in my designs. Will never feel the same about color.

I could see this under a foyer table or at a small desk.

Agree with the suggestion to use your rug as a wall hanging. Would look great where the other pieces currently hang on that back wall. Since you are well traveled and have collected, do you perhaps have another rug larger than this one that will "coordinate" with the current one? If you have something that picks up one of the colors in your rug and has a smaller scale in the pattern, that could be a very nice look. Don't we need a piece of furniture (ottoman, table, accent piece) that is indigenous to this region? Could be very nice.

I love your rug. It is an incredible design. May look good layered on sisal because the wood floor isn't doing it justice. Beautiful floor, I just think it takes away from the rug a little bit.
