Master Bath Needs Facelift!

My master bathroom is very WHITE! I have recently painted it gold (it shows yellow in the following pictures, but it really is gold) and I have curtains and rugs that I like. I can change the sinks and vanity only (I cannot change any of the tiling or other fixtures). The adjoining bedroom is gold and burgundy with warm traditional wood furniture and a metal bed. I would like to make the bathroom warmer. Would a wood vanity be to much of a contrast to all the white? Any recommendations? How about the counter top? I would like to do an all-in-one corian..but what color? Or should I do white sinks and a darker, warmer counter top?

Here are some pics starting with the vanity and working counter-clockwise through the room.

I think a dark wooden vanity would look nice - it will look more like a piece of furniture to help break up the white white tiles and trim in the room. A nice frame or painted molding around the mirror could continue that look up onto the wall. I'm unsure about the countertop, guess depending on what tone of wood you go with. Good luck - I'm sure you'll get many good suggestions from this forum.

I would definitely go with a wood vanity and personally I would do a darker granite/quartz countertop with white undermount sinks. A white countertop is also a good option to make the vanity stand out but then it will be the only dark item. You have alot of space on the tile to the right of the tub. Can you put a wooden chest there that you can use for storage plus it would bring in the darker tones. You could also change the frames on your prints to larger/thicker wooden frames.
If you can only do "one" thing then do the vanity and keep the marble top you have.

I should also add that it's time to replace the shades (they stay closed at all times). I was thinking about woven wood or wood blind, but I'm afraid with all the sticky hairspray type of dust they would collect the dust worse than pleated shades.

And the counter is white laminate and will be trashed with the sinks that are in dire need of replacement!

I saw this and thought of you. The granite appears to be "salt and peppered" which would work with your exsisting white tiles. The faucets are not included ( so you do not have to go that modern. The vanity with the hardware, and granite top with (2) white undermount sinks, just over $1,000. It is from COSTCO!!!

I like the idea of the salt & pepper granite....you're right it will tie things in together nicely!

Hello Karezz. I just love that costco vanity and the color of the granite for your bath, that I can't think of anything else that would be as perfect. It has nice lines and is in fact traditional in it's styling, the granite ties in all your colors, and the size is exactly correct. It is on sale for $1,099, shipping incl. ( with 2 white undermount sinks)
Maybe if you could tell me what you do not like about it, or send me some more pictures of your home, I could get a better idea of your style?

    Hi Alicia,

Thanks again for taking a look at my bathroom! I like the vanity you suggested, I'm just thinking it looks a bit contemporary (even without the faucets). Plus, I can't even seem to find it on the Costco website.

How about these- they look more like furniture. They're all about $1200 plus freight. Maybe you find one you like.

    Karezz,

Watch the side walls when looking for a new vanity. It looks like a tight fit. You have the tub deck and wall right there, so many of the furniture vanities could cause an installation issue. You may want to limit yourself to vanites that have only straight sides, not the dresser kind.
Sorry you could not see the vanity on the site. I am not great at the whole linking thing, but it is on the site. I checked after I saw your post. Lowes also has some nice vanities. And you can always buy the vanity, and a top, and the sinks seperately. That might be the best way to go.
