Help with paint color

I originally posted in kitchens, but this probably belongs here so I'll cross post. Thanks!

We did a mini-update on our little powder room as a "while we are at it" with the kitchen remodel with new counters, sink, and gel stained the vanity. Now we need to paint, I thought that selecting a paint color with the Emperador Dark marble would be easy with all of the colors in the veining. However, it is not proving as straightforward as I thought. Just planning on a medium tan, but can't figure out how "yellow" to go (FYI, no natural light, and not great artificial light). So, I know that it is hard to get a true color on a monitor, but maybe somebody has had real experiences with these colors (more so than a 1" square on a paintdeck). My front runners to far are either BM Chocolate Mousse or Stone House, but am also open to other suggestions

i love the blue-grey you have in there.

I love it too, but my husband doesn't think that it "goes" with the marble...and I guess I am a little unsure too (although I love blue and brown together). We did just paint the room before the upgrade since the original plan was to find a remnant of carrara, which would have matched beautifully. I could probably overrule him, maybe I should "live" with it for a while to be sure.

I love the current paint color with your marble too. (I also happen to love ED marble anyway!) Look at how great your mirror looks against the wall color! Your hand towel ties it together and, if I can make out the reflected images, it also looks like your art might as well. If not, I'd find some art that has blues and coppery browns and you're all set in my eyes.

Well, shoot, maybe you are right. And to top it off, now I have an extra $60 and several hours on my hands.

    Glass of wine? My treat?

I like the color that it is too; that blue is so much more interesting than a yellow beige color. I think you are good to go!

Some darker colour might be helpful.

I love the existing color you have!!! Don't change it!!! Looks fabulous with the marble and mirror.

LOL, enjoy that glass of wine while you ponder another project to take on instead! BTW, what IS that lovely blue gray color anyway?

I like the color you have as well, but if you decide in the end that you're ready for a change, the color of the vase you have looks like its a good match with the veining. I'd have that color matched and see how it works.

Maybe some spikier arrangement, e.g. gnarly branches, or an orchid (but I guess that would die because of lack of light).

Check out the link below for some ideas of colors that go well with your marble.
I just painted my bathroom a warm beige and it took me 2 weeks to find the right color. In my lighting a lot of colors would go gray or too yellow but after a few days it became easier to narrow the field.

BM now offers sample sheets (smallest is about 6"x8") so pick up a few and tape them to your wall. I return the ones I don't use to avoid feeling guilty each time I go back for more! :)

I have to be the dissenting vote and say I think it would look richer with a color from the marble or a wallpaper.

Love the color it is now. When I saw your first photo, my first thought was a blue gray such as gray wisp by BM. Then I saw that it is a blue gray and so wouldn't change it.

My powder room is similar colors, except for the walls. I love blue but don't think I looked at a blue grey, but I doubt it. I have a lot of blue and felt it needed to be something different. I like the blue grey as a compliment to the dark wood, copper and reds.

I tried a gazillion paint colors, and to be honest, I'm not sure what color I had them mix before we started adding to it. The computer showed the nearest BM color to be Wish (which we later put in our bedroom where it looks great with dark wood too)), but our powder room paint is just a little deeper and grayer. The color really plays well with the dark wood and marble and looks different in different light -- but always soft and rich. This is the formula we used with the same marble and dark vanity if you decide to not keep the blue and want to consider a grey-beige color:

    Y3 OX 23.50
    S1 OX 20.00
    M1 OX 6.50

Maybe they can mix that in a sample? Wish is the same pigments mixed 21.0/14.0/5.5 for comparison.

I should not post late at night after too little sleep the night before. :O Hope that was clear enough.

I noticed the fan deck is open to a strip of beige and you mention medium tan. I will warn you -- beiges are probably the hardest color to look at with that marble, and I don't think yellow is your friend with it. I started looking at beiges and trying to take colors from the veining and wound up with a lot of what I called dog barf selections. Sage green was my next direction, then into the greys from there.

The blue grey is a cooler look, but the warmth and red in the copper mirror and the dark wood compliment it. The cool is also tied in by your white sink and chrome faucet. For me, it is a soft, elegant look and a bit unexpected. In case I repaint, what color do you have on the wall now? ;)

Notice in those Houzz photos linked above for color ideas that the undertones are grey and green. Don't let it get too yellow or pink. The custom mix I wound up with would be similar to the pewter in the last photo on the first page -- the one with the white sink cabinet angled into the corner, but it is lighter.

I still say keep it for a while, but if you decide to change it, that color strip you are looking at in that photo is not working for me. It is not as straightforward or as easy as you would think. Complimenting (your blue grey, my grey brown or pewter if you prefer, the green undertones in some of those others) seems to work better than trying to match a color.

The color it is now is perfect, to be honest it's an unlikely choice and I would not think it would work- but it does, I don't think you could do better with any other color
