How many Knobs/Pulls on a 33'

We have a few 33" Base Cabinets. 1 small drawer on top, 2 larger drawers on the bottom.

We are thinking of mixing knobs and handles and I know if we do handles, the 2 larger drawers on a 36" base cabinet definitely. The KD liked the idea of knobs on the top one instead of handles, but I don't know.

She also thought that we should do 2 of each for each drawer on 33", but the contractor thought that to do 2, you probably need a 36" of 40" cabinet.

At 33" is it borderline and it's pretty much whichever look you prefer?

What do you all think?

I'd probably go with 2, but its really personal preference.

If it were me, I'd do two pulls. The 33" cabinets are still pretty wide, and I think the single small pull would get lost, especially on the taller lower drawers. I've read there's some concern when using two knobs/pulls on a wide drawer since the tendency is to just grab one pull (instead of both) to pull the drawer out and thereby putting more stress on one side of the drawer. If you have smooth glide drawers I don't think this would really cause problems, but never having lived with that, I don't know...

I used single pulls throughout my kitchen, but they came in varying lengths and I used the longer pulls on the wider drawers.

I like a more streamline look and would choose a longer handle. It's totally a personal preference thing. One concept has no more "design correctness" then the other.

I was wondering about what would happen if I put 2 pulls and always pulled with one, if that'd be a problem.

We do have Kraftmaid cabinets with the smooth glide drawers.

I think I'd end up just pulling one personally. Though I'm trying to make that decision for our 36" unit as well. I'm thinking of putting a 5" handle on there instead...

It is personal preference based on looks. As long as you have decent slides, there will be no practical difference. We chose to do one pull on every drawer, including our 36" ones.

We put two pulls on all drawers >29". So our 30", 31", 33", and 36" drawers all have two pulls. Our 18", 24", and 27" drawers all have one pull.

I also think it depends on what you like...either will work fine if you have a long enough pull. If your pulls are short like mine (4"), then I think 2 pulls will look better...

As to using the pulls, sometimes I use two hands and sometimes I use one hand to open the two-pull drawers. Only once, early on, have I had to re-adjust a 2-pull drawer...I don't if it's b/c I mostly used one hand or if it was out of adjustment from the beginning. Regardless, I adjusted it and many months later it's fine...I still use one hand about half the time to open it. None of the others have needed to be adjusted...even the heavy drawers.

Oh, and BTW, we put pulls on all the drawers. Knobs are on the doors and the 6" pullouts flanking the cooktop.
