Pegasus Shower Faucet Replacement?

Hi,

We're about ready to move in and the cleaners came to clean our house. When I went to check their work, I found the shower faucet handle hanging out of the wall! The plastic stem is completely broken in half. My GC thinks the cleaners stood on it while they cleaned the shower ceiling. He thinks there would be no other way to snap it in half.

Regardless, my GC says that we'll have to rip out the shower tile to get to the interior piping to install a new shower faucet. He said that shower faucets are not interchangeable (even another Pegasus faucet) and there is no way to find a 2 year old Pegasus faucet/part. Is this true? Do I have no other choice but to completely tear out the shower tile? Sure does seem like there is an easier and less damaging way to resolve this problem.

Pegasus brand is carried exclusively by the Home Depot which also stocks some in store parts for Pegasus. The link is to the company, you'll have to enter your email account and they will get back to you. otherwise there is a toll free number located on the box, you may have to make a trip to Home Depot. If the faucet is only two years old, there should be no reason you can't get a replacement stem.

I work in plumbing supply...I'd say just get a new valve as well. Tracking down Pegasus parts is a task even Quixote wouldn't take on! Pegasus is also pretty low quality...you're going to end up replacing it anyway, save yourself the hassle and money of looking for the part. Go to a wholesale plumbing supplier (not Home Depot or Lowe's). Get a Delta or Moen. (Although Delta is fine at home centers). You'll be better off, and if you ever have to find replacement parts again it will be much much easier

Can you explain the exact part that you are looking for?

I have a Pegasus tub/shower system that is sitting in my attice from 2 years ago when were were redoing our bath. We tried to install it but it did not work so we just put it aside and used a Moen.

If I have the part that you need you can have it.

Hi! I just bought a forclosure house and I have been searching for replacement parts for my pegasus fauset. The stem will fit model 813-936, 813-880, 813-879, 813-581, 813-449 or 813-921. If I can not find these parts we will need to rip out the tile which will be expensive and also hard to find. Do you by any chance want to sell the faucet you mentioned in this post?
