Has anyone done this? I'm looking into NEW taller top cabinets, and refacing my bottom oak cabinets to match the top (perhaps cherry).

Initially, I got a few quotes to have my custom oak cabinets professionally painted. Had a contractor out yesterday to see about adding crown molding, and he suggested replacing the top cabinets with taller cabinets (mine stop way short of the ceiling - not modern looking).

We don't want to totally replace the bottom cabinets, as we have already put in granite counters and a tumbled marble backsplash ("cart before the horse").

I want to replace my appliances with stainless - with a panel ready frige so it blends in (kitchen is adjacent to family room).
