Frontline/Advantage? Need answer quick!

I am about to "rescue" (long story) a Chihuahua puppy that is covered with fleas and need to know anyone's experiences with

Frontline and Advantage on puppies that age.The people I am getting the puppy from say she is 8 weeks old but that is questionable. My vet says he can tell her age when he sees her and says either of these two medications are safe for pups 8 weeks old.Just wondering if anyone has ever used it on a puppy that age and if so what were results/concequences? I'm leaving here at 4 to pick the puppy up so I need some responses quick! LOL Thanks in advance

I haven't used on a puppy but under the direction of my daughter who is a Vet Tech, have used small doses on kittens the same age many times.. No problems.

Thanks.....The puppy is being delivered to me as I speak and will be taking her directly to the vet.Hopefully the fleas haven't done any physical damage yet.It really ticks me off that these people have let her get in this condition, then try to sell her for $100!!! We are giving them $25. and only because we know she will die if she doesn't get attention as soon as possible.

I'm sure your vet will be able to give you the appropriate treatment and the pup should be fine.

premier-I asked the question because I have had no experience with either of the products and basically to ease my own mind as to whether anyone ever had a bad experience with the product.I know that vets will sometimes use products that may not be the best to use and that all animals react differently to some things.I trust my vet,but like anyone else they are not infallible.I was just asking here because there are a lot of people that may have had some experiences, good and bad, with using these products on small puppies. This puppy is very tiny and I wanted to be sure she would suffer no ill effects from the medication.I took her to the vet immediately after I got her and he recommended Frontline.
I applied it after we got her home and she is doing fine.I bathed her and used one of those flea combs on her, then applied the Frontline.Fleas are dying! She is precious and I know she feels so much better without all those fleas.
I'm so glad we went ahead and got her because I can only imagine her fate if we hadn't.I'm sure the fleas would have killed her because they obviously didn't care that she had them.
I wish I knew how to post a picture. We still haven't given her an official name.I have to live with her for a while before one comes to me.She is black with a little white patch on her chest and chin and one or two little white toes on each foot. She already knows how to give you a handshake.

Don't panic if she keeps scratching for a while. Remember that the bites may take 2 weeks to completely disappear on a healthy human (my rescue dog brought us a few, and it took 2 weeks for my 2 ankle bites to completely heal). So the itching will continue for a bit even if all the fleas are dead. Using a flea comb after the bath is very smart. When we got our dog out of the shelter, he'd just been neutered, so all we could do was treat him with Frontline plus and then use a flea comb and some wet wipes to clean him up. Couldn't bathe him for a whole week. What a relief when we could finally take him to the groomer. I'm not used to dealing with flea dirt since products like Frontline became available.
