I have a 12-year old female that's taken to biting at the area right above her tail - (she's long-haired). Anyway, now that area is all red and hair is patchy. She had a flea bath at the groomers about a month ago and she doesn't have fleas. Usually I can see them since she's got white hair, but now the area is really getting bald. Does anyone have any suggestions. I've tried the "cone" collar and she just works and works and gets it off! I mean she doesn't constantly bite back there but she does it enough that she's making it sore and bald.

Anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm not going to be able to take her into the vet until after the 20th because that's when I get paid again and the vets here are higher than the national debt right now!
