Yes, my bull mastiff mix was actig pretty close to normal before his second surgery. We went ahead with the surgery knowing that the operation would make things easier as he got older and I would not have to worry so much about him going under at an older age when they dont recover so nicely. Sorry to hear your dog has reinjured itself. Even tho my dog is at 99 percent of normal I still curtail much of the more rambuctous behavior...For fear of him reinjuring. Hope your dog comes thru the surgery and recoveres quickly without complications.

Poor girl is already old. She had the first leg done at nine. She is 11 now. Lots of pep and energy still. I would hate to leave it and have her live out the rest of her life like this. Thanks for the well wishes.

Depending upon the injury, Surgery may not be necessary, particularly for older dogs or dogs that aren't excessively active. Sometimes its just a partial tear or strain that heals on its own.
