Sundance has a Modern Times Factory stool that comes in red - not upholstered but does adjust height, which can be nice with kids. DWR.com also has some cool stools - good luck!

I bought stools from allbarstools.com via recommendation from several GW users. They are 15" sq. (I needed that size) Black vinyl (I have kids too) and black steel ( i think it's steel) frame.. But. i remember there being a ton of different options for frame and seat. They are the TEMPO HERMOSA stools. I have to tell you they are a little pricey ($137 each i think), but so comfortable and look really nice! I don't remember if they had red in vinyl but from what i was told by other GW'ers and their on-line reviews, these stools are made for restaurants and such so they are very durable (kid friendly in my opinion!!!)

Chris45NY- Thanks for the nice compliments. The ones I borrowed are from Kasala (a seattle
furniture store) www.kasala.com and a total bargain at $99. My husband wants me to get the bar stool and cut the legs to make them work. The counter height is supposed to be 24" but it is actually a bit shorter. I think 26" would be ideal.
These stools have a variety of choices for colors and feel well made. Just wish they were taller! They do not swivel.

We ended up getting 26" barstools that swivel, which is nice because you don't have to drag
the stool out to sit down. They might be better for your wood floors, too.
