Hi Rubyvine  I donÂt have any answers for you  IÂm in a similar boat. I love Marble, DH loves granite. I was thinking a compromise might be Soapstone? IÂm just curious if you considered this at all.

I briefly considered soapstone but again, it has some issues with scratching. That's just fine with me but DH would never be able to handle it. Also, my cabs are a flat black and they did not do the soapstone justice. Yes, Titanium Black granite is also black but has big chunks of quartz in it that helps break up all the dark. Black on black...call me crazy :)

How have you been? I was in the same boat last summer my
DH refused marble and I ended up going with granite. No
regrets, I love my counters.

I saw a granite at the stone yard last spring called
Metallicus. It sounds exactly like Titanium black from
Brazil. I remember it vividly. Gorgeous with lots of
movement. I have no idea if this is the same stone.
Hopefully Kevin or Bill, the stone gurus, can give you
better advice.

Names similar to Black Titanium are Metallicus or
Metalicus, Asterick, Black Falcon... many names. My close
friends have this on their cooktop. It is gorgeous. They
have lived in this home 15 years and have had no issues
with this stone. They do not know the name but it
looks exactly like the slab I saw called Metalicus.

There's a stone fabricators website where you can ask advice on granite and marble etc in the advice forum and the fabricators will answer your question. I think this is your best bet. Good luck.

Boxerpups-I'm happy to hear you love your granite counters. There is hope for me then too :) I googled the other names you gave me and they all do look similar to the Titanium Black and are also very pretty. You are such a big help to others-so happy to have you!

Ruby vine, It is now 2016 and I am in the same boat your were. Marble nixed, quartzsite nixed, fell in love with titanium (can you tell I want simple?). What did you decided to do and how did it turn out? I keep hearing that Titanium or Shiz? materials are bad to work with.
